Some thoughts on what the interior of the Constellation could be like.
For one thing I regect the "all grey" motif that ENT had. That was really drab as hell. And I can't imagine a more demoralizing colour scheme for poor saps who are supposed to be locked up in that can for several months to a couple of years.
That said I don't envision too many places aboard being all that spacious. In many if not most areas it could be similar to a naval destroyer or certainly somewhat better than a nuclear submarine. I envision the Bridge could be reasonably roomy as well as the common rec area and hangar bay (although not as spacious as a 23rd century Starfleet starship).
I also like the idea of varying the colour scheme from overbearing grey for the sake of the crew's mental health. Rec areas, messrooms and crew quarters should have some brightness and colour.
I also like the idea of landing teams or at least landing team leaders trained specifically to be the first to set foot onto planetary surfaces. There would have to be some form of security contingent involved (although all personnel would have to have some minimum sort of security training) because one never knows what one might encounter planetside.
I think the SG teams of Stargate are a fair template. All members of SG teams had basic miltary training even if they were predominantly scientists (notably Amanda Carter and Daniel Jackson).
While the Captain would be an important figure and character it isn't likely we would see him among the first to lead landing parties to the surface. If for no other reason we have no transporter system to conveniently yank him/her back aboard at the first sign of trouble. Also we could have real time communication between landing parties and those monitoring from orbit (something briefly glimpsed in TNG). Again Stargate gives us some idea of what this could be like.
In terms of hand weaponry I envsion something that can fire an electrical charge (of varying strength settings) as a form of stunning device yet also uses primarily projectiles like a more familiar firearm. Yet again Stargate gives us some idea of what this might be somewhat like.
