Star Trek: Captain's Log: Jellico

I suppose the difference is I work on earth where the sun's cycle impacts on my life, whereas on a spaceship it is constantly dark outside so the body could adapt better.

I doubt any federation Star Ships are 'dark', I would think that a good percentage of the lights work in some way as sun lamps. Working in the dark (without natural sunlight) for months on-end can lead to depression and have other health implications - something that can be avoid with federation technology. The three shifts aren't actually that difference to how a lot of police forces operate.

I agree that the story seemed short, but I was very impressed by KRAD's depiction of Jellico. As a fan of the character from Chain of Command (the only episode in which I recall disliking Riker, who's otherwise one of my favorite characters), I was skeptical of an approach meant to satisfy both Jellico's critics and admirers.

Judging from this discussion, however, KRAD seems to have delivered. With the possible exception of Destiny, which portrayed him in a very different situation and state of mind, I feel this is the first time I've seen the character I liked so much on screen appear on a page. From a personality likeness perspective, this was excellent work.I also quite liked Leslie Wong. It's too bad we're unlikely to see her again, given her fate.

So, is this it for the Captain's Log one-shots? Sulu, Harriman, Pike, and Jellico?

I vaguely recall discussion of another one-shot involving Garrett of the Enterprise-C, but was it cancelled or merely postponed?

It was canceled. Robert Greenberger posted this back in June:

My Star Trek one-shot, featuring Captain Rachel Garrett, will not be seeing print. Scott Dunbier, my editor at IDW, was extremely apologetic but a number of business factors – not creative issues – led to the project being cut from the 2010 schedule. I was really looking forward to this one since it shone a fresh light on the Nausicaans and was hoping to see exciting artwork from George Freeman. Maybe some other lifetime.

Yeah, that sucks. I was looking forward to Garrett's book. I'm perhaps one of the few people that really liked Well of Souls and I was jazzed about seeing a Garrett comic book adventure.

Well, we can hope that maybe we'll at least get the treatment or script in the upcoming "Captain's Log" TPB... but I doubt that we'll see it. Sadly. :(
