Star Trek blu-ray deleted scenes

It so temptenig to watch those deleted scenes on links posted, but I might wait until the movie is relased. I want to enjoy everybit of everything on dvd at same time, so I wait until then.

I liked all the scenes, as far as I am concerned they could have all stayed in, would have added what like 10 minutes, not too bad.

I can see why most were cut most due to pacing, its all about pacing.

Baby Spock

According to the script there was the very first scene of the movie, it starts the movie slowly if left in and does not really add any thing to the overall story

Klingons Attack the Narada

This needed to be cut since the it goes hand in hand with the Rura Penthe scene. Also it alowed the the editors to throw a holy shit moment (Kelvin Collision) directly into the star trek title card. This gave us a 'wow this is Star Trek" moment.

Kirk Brothers

More unneeded expostion that cuts into the pacing of the film. Also it would have made the audiance wonder what happened to Kirk's brother when he walked away, when the focus should be mainly on Kirks rebelous behavior

Vulcan-Human family problems

Not needed, only serves to give Amanda more presence in the film when she clealy has the very next scene (talking to spock before he goes before the council) .

Rura Penthe

This scene could have been left in the film, as the Klingon gives us alot of information about what i going on with Nero and his plans. Some of this was addressed later in the film in more non-direct ways. The other prolem with leaving it in is that it leaves man unanswered questions about how Nero got the Narada back, why it was just 'sitting' around etc..

Kirk, Gaila and the Kobayashi Maru

Cutting this scene gives us more of a mystery about how Kirk fixed the test. This deleted scene makes it looks like Kirk uses women to his own end and I'm not sure thats where were they wanted Kirk to be at this point in his life.

Kirk apologizes to...not Gaila

Cut because the above scene was cut and also it slows down pacing

For a short while there I was hoping to have a confirmation that Gaila survived (by being on the Enterprise), but alas...

Thanks for these. Love them. Wish I could save the Kirk and not Gaila video. Oh well, less than 3 weeks now.

I very much enjoyed the Klingon scenes. I would have liked it if those were in the movie somewhere.

The Kirk Brothers scene makes the car scene in the movie make a lot more sense and I think that is a good scene as well.

As for the other 4 deleted scenes, I think theyre unneeded and I'm fine with them being cut.

I rather liked the bits with Gaila and the Kobayashi Maru--even though Kirk's a bit of a dick to Gaila, that's no different from how he acts through the rest of the film, and seeing how he planted the program in the simulation lets us see him using his brain for once, which is a nice change of pace.

Did you try the [stuff you're not supposed to talk about in here] link?

One thing is for sure if Klingons are in the sequel its going to be intense. The Klingons scenes are all great.

Got goosebumps when the Klingons started talking in the attack scene

These deleted scenes are fantastic. In fact, I think I would have enjoyed the movie more if they would have been left in. A movie doesn't always need constant action and lens flares. Sometimes a quiet moment with character development can be even more powerful.

The scene with Kirk and his brother should have been left in the movie. Someone suggested it would bring up questions as to where the brother was walking. I think the scene showed he was running away and getting out of there because of his step dad. Cutting this scene leaves the viewer confused and answering more questions like why the hell a kid is driving a car and who the teenager is that he passes while driving?

I really like the Klingons and their interrogation of Nero. They explain what the hell is going on in a natural and believable way. When Spock has his flashback sequence later in the film, it seemed like they didn't know how to explain things so they resorted to a cliched flashback. It also sets the Klingons up as a menace for future films.

I just really loved all the deleted scenes and felt they chopped too much when I saw it in theatres. The film needed a few quiet moments and not constant camera shaking action.

Hmm... like the Kirk - Pike scene at the bar ?
Or the Sarek - young Spock scene on Vulcan, the Sarek - Spock scene after Amanda's death, the Amanda - Spock scene before he says FU and joins starfleet, the Kirk - Spock Prime scenes on Delta Vega's caves and outpost, even the few moments after Kirk's birth between George & Winona, the couple of Uhura - Spock moments on the Enterprise etc etc etc etc etc

*wah*. I could only get the audio of Kirk and Gaila and the Kobayashi Maru, although i could imagine what was going on. I think they should have left those scenes in. He DOES apologize later (or at least try to in the deleted "Kirk apologizes to not Gaila")....

I would have liked ALL of the scenes left in. I agree with Salvor, there were quiet moment in the film, but i wouldn't have minded more of them.

Salvor, thanks again for posting these for us. It helped this final countdown go a little easier...... (how many more days?!?!? ARG!) i don't think i have ever waited for a DVD release with so much anticipation!!!

You need to install an xvid codec in order to be able to see the video. It will help you with many more videos too.

If you want get it here http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=4521&s=52

Love the very short Kobayashi Maru scene with Gaila...

All but two should have been in the movie. I only see problems with pacing in TWO of those scenes..Kirk apologizes to...not Gaila and Vulcan-Human family problems.

It was probably a good thing that the Klingon scenes were deleted. It leaves too many unanswered questions. Didn't the Narada easily destroy a bunch of Vulcan and Human ships right before it destroyed Vulcan? Why would it just surrender to the Klingons? Wouldn't it have probably had faster warp capabilities anyway if it didn't want to fight? Furthermore, Nero kills a few gaurds--how does he get his crew back. Is the Narada just sitting on Rura Penthe? The Klingons didn't even try to reverse engineer it or anything? They're acting like they really had no idea about Nero and his future technology...

Or use VLC, which installs it's own codecs and will play just about anything.

I'd assumed that the Narada was too damaged by the collision to fight back at the time.

The second set of questions are harder:
possibly the Narada repaired itself, but took a while to do so (? 25 years), and didn't feel inclined to co-operate with the Klingons - being a Borg ship I assume it has both those capabilities.

I had the feeling that once captured Nero couldn't be bothered to break loose 'til prime Spock was due. Presumably he could have done so with relative ease at any time after the Narada was fully operational

Good scenes but they weren't needed in the film. I think they made the right call.

I like that Vulcan looks in no way like southern California.
