Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Why is the Asian market always showing the action? Are Asians that shallow? Seems weird. 'Slow' movies or dramatic movies with a good story do not work for the Asian audience?

Pretty much the opposite. "Asians" are a pretty diverse group of people. But they love drama. BUT(!) drama depends a lot on cultural context. Many of the "conflicts" in American movies depend on American culture, and barely work in Europe and in Asia not at all.

Forming partnerships, breaking up and forming friendships simply works totally different in many parts of the world. Stuff blowing up is exciting everywhere.

That's why the Asian market consists a big part of Asian movies, that many people here never see or hear of. The action set pieces (which come from a bigger budget and the unique Hollywood machinery) are pretty much the only outstanding and/or unique selling points of American movies overseas.

someone over Tumblr noticed a little goof in the movie.

before talking with the vulcans, Spock still had a trace of Uhura's lipstick on his right cheek but he doesn't have that in the previous shot when talking with Mccoy, and the next one where he's facing the vulcans. Probably it was the result of different takes.
They should've left it there! the idea of him talking with the vulcans while having a lipstick kiss on his face, and them pretending to not notice it, is just too funny!

Japanese countdown starts at $338.350 million. I'm still thinking $346 million.

Lots of pics with Lin, JJ, and Pegg are online.

To each his own I guess, but for me these are GREAT nuTrek posters:

Whether painted or photoshopped the art, the colors and the composition really has to stand out.

But if you prefer just a photo of a guy riding a motorcycle as a poster… no problem.

The Japanese have several good US Style posters, but they like these busy, overwritten style posters there and they released 2 of them. I actually like his one.

This is my favorite US style version.

I love this one and the crashed saucer one. I think they're the best ones we got for beyond. They should have used them for the US and Europe.

Yeah, if you don't like Star Trek, it's a great poster.
Perhaps you should consider limiting yourself to speaking of your own opinions, and refrain from making insinuations concerning what others ought to like or not like. You're in danger of sounding like the Real Star Trek Fan™ Police, with posts like this.

(And nobody needs that.)

Been a fan since 1975, own all the series on various disc formats, buy the books/comics/video games, and I think it is a great "Star Trek" poster. I also like the posters from most other Trek movies, with TMP Kirk, Spock, Ilia poster being my favorite.

It looks like about a $1.5 million opening weekend in Japan. It will probably drop from STID's box office but could still do from the mid 7s to high 8s there which is not too bad considering the higher drops everywhere else.
