Why is the Asian market always showing the action? Are Asians that shallow? Seems weird. 'Slow' movies or dramatic movies with a good story do not work for the Asian audience?
Pretty much the opposite. "Asians" are a pretty diverse group of people. But they love drama. BUT(!) drama depends a lot on cultural context. Many of the "conflicts" in American movies depend on American culture, and barely work in Europe and in Asia not at all.
Forming partnerships, breaking up and forming friendships simply works totally different in many parts of the world. Stuff blowing up is exciting everywhere.
That's why the Asian market consists a big part of Asian movies, that many people here never see or hear of. The action set pieces (which come from a bigger budget and the unique Hollywood machinery) are pretty much the only outstanding and/or unique selling points of American movies overseas.
