Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

It's all because Kirk said something about "underestimating humanity" while pointing his phaser.

Obligatory "social commentary" established, adoration of the customary Star Trek pew-pew may commence. ;)

To me, that's a very Star Trek-ly line. It's along the lines of what Picard would say to Q. Great to hear this.

Almost every trek movie trailer in history starts off slow and ends with a crescendo. Why act like it's the first time?

I kind of feeling the same way. I'm happy the trailer is working and that people are feeling more in to the film, and more excited about it. That's great and I hope the film succeeds because of it. :techman:

But, while the first part of the trailer was great with Kirk and Bones talking and such, the last half felt very jerky and unoriginal. It reminded me too much of Rogue One, going from the pithy to the action with all the transition of shifting a car in to first from 5th.

Yup, I'm baffled by the reactions, but that's marketing for you.

Someone posted a German tv spot or they are saying it is on youtube. Looks like a remash of bits of the trailer.

If anyone's interested, I made a mashup from the latest trailer. I did this with Into Darkness back in '13 as well. :)

oh this was a great mashup. great job :D

I was playing back my recording of Fear The Walking Dead and fast forwarding through the commercials and saw the trailer. I of course stopped, and played it back. An Independence Day trailer followed a but later. I felt like it was 1996 again with ID and ST both having films out. As it was the original Independence Day and First Contact that year.

I thought the first Beyond trailer was awful and this one far superior though I still am keeping my expectations within the reality of the "nu trek," reboots. I am not expecting Patrick Stewart repartee or heartwarming Nimoy moments from Beyond but it actually looks like a good film and a continuation of hopefully the better work of the "JJ era."

Into Darkness was a piece of crap but 09 was a great film and despite its obvious flaws a credit to the name Star Trek. Let's hope Beyond will be more a kin to 09 than Into Despairation.

That's from Wrath of Khan. :D

It's now running 364,000 likes/loves to only 308 dislikes with 11.3 million views. Quite a difference from the 15 million view teaser, with 61,448 likes and 25,907 dislikes. No idea where the 19 million view trailer disappeared to.

Trailer round-up:

So for some reason the stats didn't show for me yesterday for the facebook sourced trailer, but now I've seen it. It's over 9.7 million views, 321,000 likes and almost 200,000 shares.

I noticed the paramount trailer now has an addition to the end of Simon Pegg inviting people to subscribe for new videos. I was wondering if the individual in the comments responding as 'Simon Pegg' is actually Simon Pegg. Probably not but who knows!

That's one of several Paramount videos. Not sure why they split them like that. They have their own view count. They probably amount to 5 million more views total.
