Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Well done, Bill! Too bad it will fall on deaf ears as logic always does with these people.

Back to the topic of Trek Beyond itself, I do love the little nuggets we're getting on it as we go. Although I wonder how long it'll be before we know the whole film.

(ETA: By the way, you want to talk about a disappointing turn for Paramount financially like the "truthers" do for Into Darkness, take a look at Terminator: Genysis. $81 million domestic. Ouch.)

I've never been a big Terminator mark, but I really feel for its hardcore fanbase. From my limited perspective, it seems they've endured one problem after another for a very long time.

Rough domestic take, but it still looks like it'll break $400 million worldwide. I imagine there will be a sequel, they'll just retool it a bit.

Probably. I liked Genysis and I'd hate to see the storyline they've set up abandoned. It was far from perfect and the marketing gave away too much but it was fun. If I recall correctly, the rights to the franchise revert to Jim Cameron in 2019. Which he will likely do absolutely nothing with because of his Avatar obsession.

yes as its set to come out in China now. the box office for US films is going crazy over there - Expendables3 72m, Dawn Apes 107m, XMen DOFP 116m, Interstellar 121m, FF7 390m!

even STID managed 56m!

I think Beyond is going to nearly double that, re: China. The market has exploded so much in the past two years. ID was there as it began its explosion. Beyond will be there for the full of it.

I think it will do better but I'm not certain it will double that. We shall see though.

If it is a decent movie, I think China will push Star Trek Beyond into the $500+ million range.

The box office explosion in China is a fascinating read, and it does explain the Studio's markedly decreased concern for domestic performance. We might even get Pacific Rim 2, despite no Americans showing up for Pacific Rim 1.

Y'know, I swear, no matter the quality of Beyond, I'm always going to remember its pre-release phase for the unstoppable "truther" meme surrounding its production.

Oh, I don't think it's stopping anytime soon.

I really want to jokingly start a petition to end their pettiness. I bet I'd get more signatures more quickly than they have.

I signed the petition, and left a comment...

Because I'm obviously a freaking loon with no life. I'm actively protesting a Hollywood film when we are a country facing real problems such as hunger, homelessness and illiteracy. I think I'm being true to "Roddenberry's Vision" by wasting my time on such an inconsequential matter. I feel it is a far better use of my time than helping those less fortunate in my community.

Gene Roddenberry would be proud!

you guys think ParaMobios&co from that star trek fanpage over facebook will donate? :p

The clique of nutty AbramsTrek superhaters have, thankfully, lost any and all credibility outside of their own little fanclubs.

I agree. The movie was lots of fun, I don't care how much hate it gets, it was better than the critics made us believe.

I loved Genisys and was heartbroken to read that it did poorly. But on the plus side, if it is the last we see of Terminator (for now, at least), it's arguably the happiest ending in the franchise.

But they did get The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Between the original two movies and TSCC, they have about 26 hours and 16 minutes of good Terminator content, while the past three movies add up to only 5 hours and 50 minutes. So I'd say they still come out ahead.

Heh, touche. Well that's good, then.
