Why would he be playing Daystrom?
Apparently, it makes no sense. Kirk and cia are going on their five-year mission to explore strange new worlds. Far from main Federation space.
What the hell is Daystrom doing there?

Daystrom's appearance in TOS was also during the five-year mission. Wasn't a problem there, was it?
Look, I didn't say I thought Elba was playing Daystrom, I said I HOPED he was. Happy now?
Funny thing about Goldsmith - I was reading a review of the expanded Nemesis score earlier today, where they dismissed it because he changed the arrangement of the main theme too much. I personally liked how he (and his son I believe?) made 'Blue Skies' into the secondary theme.
I love Michael Giacchino and I hope he comes back.
both his soundtrack for trek and LOST are amongst my favorites.
I liked the Jurassic World score, and brought his soundtrack for 'The Incredibles' just yesterday. My vinyl of Jupiter Ascending's soundtrack (one of the best parts of the damn movie) shipped about a week ago, and I liked the music for 'Tomorrowland' when I saw it in the cinema.
