I tend to agree with @drt here. A making of likely wouldn't have been accurate in the slightest.

"In the slightest"? Surely you exaggerate. They could have a lot of fun using the bare bones of the known facts:
Gene the randy yet idealistic hustler wrestling with NBC suits, Shatner and his lid problem, Nimoy's drinking (there's your pathos), Nichols' feelings of opportunity and responsibility re race stuff, crazy writer concepts that never made it to screen, bit player resentment of Shatner's leading man ego (there's your comedy runner). They could easily get a decent TV movie out of that material.

Seal Team 6 is probably a good bet. I also think Paramount might consider a version(Kelvin?) of Star Trek Online's timeline for a 2nd reboots series. Why? because it covers all the bases of the post Romulus/Vulcan destruction (wow what an unlucky race). It won't necessarily be a "war movie" but the conflict of the period might be a backdrop. Think intrigue, secret agents, commandos.

On the BO front, no more updates, but after doing a little math, and using some conservative estimates, it looks like the worldwide box office might amount to $3-3.5 million this week ($3.150 million is what I came up with). Putting Beyond at $$337.7 million tops. It'll have a little over 3 weeks to make $2-3 million to hit $340 million by the time it opens in Japan. By that time it'll be making around $500,000 a week WW with probably a bump for secondary/bargain theaters in the US. STID and ST09 had their bump in the 12-20 week range, but Beyond may have it sooner (10th week). STID's bump brought in an extra $1 million one weekend but $400-500,000 may be more likely.

S2,996,397 last week. Total $335,885,083. Might hit $338 million before Japan. Looking good for $340 million plus.

Ok I dunno if someone already asked this, and I don't want to open a separate thread, but anyone knows what happened to that guy who won the Omaze thing and got to play a background character in a scene?
I didn't see any mention of that and from what I remember in the reports from the fans who went to the set, I have a feeling he was in the scene where they kill Cupcake that was cut (which I suspect was the scene from the trailers where Sulu holds back a distraught Uhura and all the officers in the camp look horrified.)

Though the whole point was supporting the causes, with all the fuss about the Omaze 'win' a role' thing I bet the guy who won was disappointed that you can't see him in the movie. Or maybe you do but I didn't notice.

STB brought in $1.6 million overseas (Deadline) and another $530K for the week domestic (BOM). WW Cume listed by BOM at just shy of $136m. That's a $2.1 million total for last week (Monday thru Sun) and expect about half to a third of that this week. At this point we will just be treading water until Japan. We will definitely need Japan to cross the $340m mark. $350 million seems all but impossible at this point.

According to Deadline the Total in China is $64.2 million. Only about a $7 million increase from STID. I don't think the run is officially over there until Thur but the massive theater reduction means that between now and Wed the ticket sales will be minimal.

I think btw $65-66m is still a safe bet for China. Right around the same numbers as IA5 and JB. It will take a really good run in Japan to push WW to $350 million. I personally don't expect it, I only think we'll see $5-7m but I'd love to see Japan hit $10+ million.

We should still see another $2 million in the tank domestically, there is still the dollar theater run coming up. $340 million is a lock. $345 million is still pretty dicey IMO. Reaching $350 million would be quite the upset at this point.
