I don't see the reboot actors doing another movie after 4 if it is produced, unless they feel the need to fatten their bank accounts/alimoney cheques cos their careers are slowing down. Most of them will be in their 40's and looking 40 today is not the same as looking 40 when TMP was released and those actors were in their 50's. I hope they reboot the franchise on TV with a new cast and the occasional movie.

'Yeah the same rock where you edited my quote so the context is lost.'

I don't think anyone's living under a rock and definitely not when it concerns the new trek. We just have irreconcilable perspectives, is all.

So rebooting the franchise again involves the same actors from the older reboot?

But then that's not rebooting the franchise.

How many more movies do we reckon they have in them? TOS cast did six in twelve years, TNG managed four in eight years. It's been seven years since the reboot and we've had three movies, with a possible fourth in what, 2-3 years?

What's the likelihood that 4 will be the last, and where do we go then? Stay in Kelvinverse and do nuTNG, follow another crew (adventures of the Enterprise-B anyone?), or reboot again?
I agree they've not make effective use of their time in getting these movies out. If they rebooted TOS again, I think there'd be a backlash (reminiscent of when they rebooted to Amazing Spiderman). Maybe they could do NuTNG, but I don't know if relying on the popular appeal of that set up would be very profitable.
There has been talk here of a Trek "expanded cinematic universe". I think that if Trek produced a Rogue One-like standalone movie, that might raise general interest in the franchise in a way that NuPicard might not. They could use the recent Blair Witch strategy and hype a "new" sci-fi thriller, and then say "Psych! It's Star Trek, bitches!"

I don't think it would be wise to make a movie with Nu Picard given that the movies with initial Picard weren't that good to begin with.

'Yeah- it would be hard for them to make a trek 5. the 4th film is already in question and most actors usually move on after a trilogy,

There are exceptions: Terminator, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park...

I don't think any of the actors from the first Jurassic Park movie were around for the 4th installment (JW). Unless you count BD Wong who had a bit part in the original and a bit part in Jurassic World.

BD Wong! Wow! I never noticed that.

What do you mean by Terminator? John Connor has been portrayed by 7 different actors and Sarah Connor by 4!
Well, Schwarzenegger was in four of them!;)

Well, there were four Aliens, all of them with Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in them. That's a common denominator and another exception to the three movie rule!

In other news, Paramount/Viacom predicts a $115 million loss for their new film Monster Trucks which won't come out for another 4 months…

Not sure what the point of the post is, but Monster Trucks is not a 50 year franchise that continually makes money for the studio like Star Trek is.

Incidentally, lots of movies that don't get sequels are not 50 year old franchises that continually make money for the studio.

I think it is pointing to the general financial problems at Paramount. That $100 million dollar merchandising deal is great. But most of that money is likely going to pay down debt instead of helping finance the next film.

Which is problematic.
