Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

I don't know? Has it been any different than any other Trek anniversary? Documentaries, conventions and books have always seemed to be the thrust of the celebration. We had episodes for the 30th anniversary, but there were also actual shows in production.

The title of the article is a little clickbait-ish but the article itself is not at all doom and gloom. I think it has some valid points and it is hopeful for the future.

Well, there were four Aliens, all of them with Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in them. That's a common denominator and another exception to the three movie rule!

Also, Marvel, Bond and Star Wars. Not that I'm expecting Trek to hit numbers like those franchises, but I woud say its more comparable to them than to the average trilogy because it's already proven as a long term franchise that isn't going to just disappear in a few years.

There was also Unification for the 25th, but same idea that it's easy to do something if there's a TV show in production. I think Doctor Who going all out for it's 50th set unrealistic expectations, particularly since previous Trek anniversaries were similarly low-key.

Yes, I am pretty sure that we'll see many more movies for this franchise.

BD Wong! Wow! I never noticed that.

Well, Schwarzenegger was in four of them!;)

@locutus101 , please don't make several separate replies, one right after another, when you can select the posts to which you wish to respond by using the 'Quote+' button, and then reply to all of them in a single post.

I will fix these for you, but triple-posting is a thing you'll want to avoid in the future.

Was it on the air for its 50th? It isn't something I really follow.

In my defense, I post on several other forums and this is the only one imposing this kind of restriction, furthermore sometimes I respond to a post without being aware that I already posted in the thread this particular post is in. It is not always noticeable. It's not like there is an alarm going off when you do that.

It was between actual series productions, but the BBC Who team is used to producing one-off special episodes, as they also do an annual Christmas special, which usually is done separate from the series productions.

There was also a made-for-TV movie dramatisation of the early years of the show's production also released for Who's 50th. Something like that might have been interesting, although, CBS may have wanted to shy away from that, since the actuality of early Trek production doesn't really match up with the perception of it.

A dramatization behind the creation and making of "The Cage" (and "WNMHGB") would have been an AMAZING 50th anniversary Star Trek special!!!

If BBC dared it (and showed its non-existent '60s kids show production values) I don't see why CBS couldn't.

Doctor Who: An Adventure in Space and Time

That sounds nice!:)
Yeah was good fun, you had to take some tests to see which area one was suitable. My highest marks were in Communications and Engineering. I failed the Kobayashi Maru. I saved 50 of the crew but we were blown up by the Klingons cos I did not leave the scene and kept fighting lol
There were costumes of the cast that you see at conventions. I was there for almost three hours!

Wow! Stop it! You're making me envious.;)

The posts to which I referred were all made within the span of five minutes' time (board clock 1:38-1:43 PM) and appeared in the thread with no posts by others intervening.

If you're going to make several replies that close together, please combine them into a single post by first using the 'Quote+' button to select all of the posts to which you'll be replying. The board software does it all for you, with no need to copy/paste. This is not a new rule; it has been in effect for nearly as long as there has been a TrekBBS.

You're right and I am sorry for that and I'll do as you say. However, sometimes it did happen when I wasn't aware of it for the reason I've given. In those cases there are sometimes several minutes separating each post.
