Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

I tried making a version of the E-A photo that still had atmosphere but wasn't too dark.

I like the original version from the first two films better. This looks like they rearranged the parts, and it just doesn't work for me.

I saw the Giant Green Space Hand in the End credits, but haven't spotted the doomsday machine. Maybe it was people mistaking something else for it.

I can't say I'm overly keen either. How difficult is it to replicate and update the perfect lines and proportions of the 1979 onwards refit?

That's the point, they're NOT trying to replicate it. Everything is about replicating with you guys.

I like both, this one just happens to be slightly better in my opinion. I honestly can't wait to see some lingering shots of it next movie.

Either way the design is not as nice as the refit. Hell it's not even as interesting as the last two films ships. It lacks the grace of previous versions, and from what little I've seen of it, is a little dull to my eyes. The only decent angle of it is dead straight on.

So was I. As much as I love the kelvin timeline and the possibilities it represents sometimes this fan just needs to be thoroughly fanwanked.
Yes, it'd have been another nice nod for the 50th (instead of it looking almost identical to the 1701 JJprise - which of course is in keeping with the original movies) maybe even made some sense (next generation of nacelles etc fast tacked due to advanced tech)..and if everyone had hated it and thought it was too much of a homage/fanwank then in the next film just have it as having had another refit between films.

I think the Kelvin A shares more in common with the TOS version in terms of where the lines meet up, but as the designer said in the Trek yards interview, he modernized it. He also said his concept art wasn't completely finished, but had to give it to the production as is because they were in a hurry.

Love the colors :techman:

The lines are pretty graceful, and it's an interesting angle for the nacelles, which I like as well. The primary and secondary hulls match up very well in terms of their lines.

Well of course, that is your opinion, and that's all it is. It looks good from every angle as the 360 degree demonstrates, and it is in fact sleeker than the previous Kelvin ship. That's my opinion. It doesn't really matter though, because I basically like all trek Starfleet ships, and they are mainly variations on a theme, in this case, they decided to modernize the TOS 1701 to a slightly closer degree and continue to use some elements of the refit.

I find it hilarious when people start listing things that should or shouldn't be on a starship, and start suggesting a nacelle might be 2 inches to high or a foot too far to the side, when they are all fictional technology anyway with no clear rules (or were abandoned years ago).

By far the MOST hilarious idea is that they would even think about replicating the 1986 E-A. Why? It's been done. It's a new creative team. The new design already looks more advanced than it does. Silly..that's just fanboy wishful thinking.

Here are some comparisons from the Trekyards video showing the similarities and differences:

Glad they changed the final ship in the film from the concept. That concept is...ehh....

There's nothing about it that looks "right". It loses all the gracefulness of various versions of the ship, it looks like it was designed to be a tank.

Beyond should be in the $337.3-5 million range after the foreign figures today. I'm guessing the discount theaters will get a weekend next week, and then it's just Japan.
