"Star Trek Begins" - The 'Origins' Film Discussion

TO BOLDLY GO to southern California

One would think (Hope?) that, given modern technology and the would-be budget, if they set the thing primarily on Earth, there would be greater global representation.

Given their love for World-Ending Peril, I do suspect an invasion movie to be likely, which having different locations around Earth makes sense.

With the tagline:

A Generation's Final Journey Begins Again in a New Beginning. Again.

Star Trek '09 was meant to be Star Trek Begins, right? It even said "prepare for the beginning" in the trailer.

Anyway, we're well and truly in boy who cried wolf territory with these announcements. I might pay it some interest once there are some leaked photos from location shooting.

I still won't believe this movie is really happening until my ass is in the theater on opening weekend.
For me, I will believe it when the end credits are rolling. And not a moment before.
Just don't make it about time police.
I actually just got an idea in my head where Timefleet has to send Relativity to modern times for reasons of temporal relevance. The crew then replicate equipment and clothing that of course matches that of companies which have endorsement deals with Paramount because blatantly obvious product placement is TIGHT! Now all we need is a scene set a control center on Relativity where the crew monitor media on Earth like TV, radio, internet, whatever, with particular emphasis on the singer signed on to do the movie's promotional pop song.

I wonder if it's not too late for me to become a Hollywood executive?

So you got a new Star Trek movie for me? Yes sir, I do!
"Star Trek Begins"
"Didn't we do that in 2009?"
"No, no, before that."
"The Enterprise series from 2001?"
"No, before that too."
"You mean First Contact, that movie with the Next Generation crew?"
"No, even before that. Modern day, to be exact."
"We aren't flying in space meeting aliens in modern times."
"I know. This will be entirely set on Earth."
"Then how is that even Star Trek?"
"Hey, shut up."

I was trying to figure out a good "Hey, shut up" gag. Well done. I guess it was actually super easy, barely an inconvenience.
