star trek animated 4rth and 5th season of star trek??

And you can believe what you want, like some believe the original Enterprise was 40 years old where there's enough evidence to counter that logic or thinking TOS was set in the 23rd Century when there's evidence to show it was in the 22nd Century (Space Seed, and Tomorrow is Yesterday). Whatever floats a fans boat, heck some thinks Discovery is part of TOS universe and they'll find some reason to make the sh*t stick on the wall.

There are many inconsistencies with dating the show down to Kirk's chat with Colonel Fellini in Tomorrow is Yesterday and how long Khan had been sleeping in Space Seed but there is also Trelane's comments about nine hundred years out of time in Squire of Gothos and yet if we include the later Treks we know it was set in the twenty third century! So this isn't any old universe but TOS argument but one which has sort of been settled! :techman:

What's settled is that the movies were set in the 23rd Century based upon advertisements for TMP, but it's those dumb chronology books which has done the most damage in brainwashing hardcore fans. TOS was set in the 22nd Century.

Didn't it say "In the 23rd Century" at the beginning of Wrath Of Khan?

The TNG episode The Neutral Zone stated the actual year of 2364. Since TNG is a century after TOS that dates TOS to the 2260s.

I don't think Okuda's Chronology book is dumb. I have the first edition. He had to reconcile some things that just wouldn't fit into 200 years. There was a lot of history and space achievements that needed more breathing room than that, like the S.S. Valiant reaching the edge of the galaxy 200 years prior to WNMHGB. And some dating is hard to deal with at all, like "The Squire of Gothos." But overall, adding 300 years to 1966 for TOS Year 1 solved the most problems and caused the least.

That was the first time they established anything "on screen". There was never a century or date before, just abouts.

@STEPhon IT got a point, they didn't say that then, but then they really didn't firmly establish it either.

Roddenberry was also fond of using the term "The 23rd Century" in his parts of TMoST. For some reason that time stuck in his head.

Yeah, I doubt GR was thinking the Valiant was a 20th Century ship, launched the same time as WNMHGB was filmed.
Other references are Kirk joking (TIY) and a rough estimate (Space Seed). I don't recall if there are more.

23rd c century was used in promotional material for TMP.

TWOK was the first to establish current era on screen. Opening title block states "In the 23rd Century." Kirk reads the date on the bottle of Romulan ale as 2283. McCoy's reply in context reveals that is a recent date.

There's enough inconsistencies to allow fans the freedom to think what they want.
In addition to the fact that its just a story and we can all think what we want.

Yes Kirk said he was out there for 5 years. Maybe later he thought to himself I should have said 15 years (forgetting to mention the previous missions). Maybe we can ignore the promo title for TWOK saying it was in the 23rd century, maybe they reset the centuries, like they did the Warp scale.
