STAR TREK 4 BACK ON! Noah Hawley to write and direct

This whole on-again-off-again refrain sounds just like what Battlestar Galactica had become since before (and after) RDM's version hit the small screens. Constant battles over writers, producers and directors coming and going - will it be a movie or another TV show - sometimes lucky just to see some small bits of concept art - legal fights between Universal and Larson - Larson dying, his estate settling, followed by an announcement of a new project that never happens, and subsequent announcements after that, all of which generate a little excitement in the fanbase then disappear as quickly as it appeared.

So it goes with the Kelvinverse. It's a shame that Tarantino pulled out, likely because he was becoming impatient with the monolithic Viacom/CBS/Paramount merger. I'm sure his ideas would have breathed new and explosive life into the franchise. Sadly, he's one that doesn't like to sit still too long; his patience is anathema to the ponderous battleship-like motions of several massive international corporations trying to merge their business mechanics. The two are simply incompatible and I think the window has closed to the Trek AltVerse in general, at this point.

Yeah I don't care if a writer/director is a Star Trek fan, and I'm tired of hearing all the people behind Trek tell us what big fans they are. I only care if they're talented and inspired. You don't need to have been a Trek fan to make something good that's compatible with Star Trek canon and in the spirit of the franchise.

Honestly, I think "being a big Trek fan" is a party line to avoid undue internet criticism during the development process that might spin some bad buzz.

I think Star Trek is going to be like Batman from now on. Where it just gets rebooted every 5-10 years with new actors and each iteration is unrelated.

I concur with this. What will be interesting is like comics movies I bet we'll see future reboots start to blur continuities together, also probably get some character gender-swaps as well since everything is pretty dude heavy.

Somehow I think Tenor will survive.
They might, but that misses the point. We have a rule, which is this:

- Don't hotlink. If you're posting a picture, host it on your own site/Photobucket, whatever. DON'T just link to another site.

So don't do that.

At any rate, quoting your own post solely to add a gif unrelated to anything in the thread is still spamming.

Don't do that, either.

Further comment, should you be inclined to pursue the question of Board Rules to which you agreed to adhere, should be taken to PM. End of.

Google has Tenor specifically for sharing GIFs in message boards, chats, online. That’s the point. How is that any different to using Photobucket?

Worrying about hotlinking a GIF hosted by Google on a service created for hotlinking GIFs is embarrassing.

You are trying to cause trouble by using any excuse to exert your power, and then censoring the justified clapback.

I don’t want or have any interest in having private messages with you over this. I’ve made my point.

There are procedures for this and they were not targeting nor bullying.

PMs

if that's not satisfying then take it to the Mod Action board.

But, still not seeing the targeting or bullying when I see such posts on every subforum. It's a rule.

This isn’t likely to end well for someone.

Can’t wait...

I opened the thread thinking you guys had posted some new not-news here such as, idk, rumors about Ang Lee making the next movie with Alexandre Desplat handling the ost.
I'm disappointed.

For all my criticisms of JJ, I actually like that he was honest in saying he was never really a Trek fan.

same.
Besides, they should know by now that 1) online trek fans will criticize you regardless. You can't win 2) the most successful movies were made by people who weren't trek fans. not saying just saying.
