question: is the security officer that arrests McCoy the same actor that plays Admiral morrow?

Nah, but you know, all black folk look the same. :wtf: :wtf:

I'm not sure what you are trying to imply here, but the first couple of times I saw TSFS I too thought that the Officer arresting Bones was Admiral Morrow. I don't think it has anything to do with skin color, rather than the mustache.

Beaker was just using an old American joke. Supposedly, "unenlightened" people of one race think most people of another race look alike, because they can't look past the superficial racial characteristics. It's an archaic, cynical joke, and it should be retired, IMO. However, I still hear Americans of various races joking about it.

BTW, I never mixed up those two characters. It has nothing to do w/ what I wrote above. I just never confused them for some reason, but I guess they do look a little similar. It never came to my attention before.

Doug

People are too paranoid. My friend's 70 y/o mother (black woman) only refers to me as "Jimmy the white boy". She does it in the most loving terms that I could never be offended.

No biggie.

No, but those two people looked very similar. :p

In passing, they look sort of similar, like the security guy could pass as Morrow's younger brother. But I can't imagine ever mistaking them for each other.

Of course, if you see their pictures side by side, they look quite different. But when you're watching the movie without a chance to rewind to the scene in question, it IS possible to confuse the two of them. Especially since the security guy has very little screen time.

Anyway, I think I've mentioned before that it's ages ago that I got them confused. On the other hand, I only discovered recently that Admiral Fitzgerald and Admiral Fitzpatrick from TOS are two different characters played by two different actors. Before that, all I could remember was ONE grey haired Admiral named Fitzsometing. I always thought they were one and the same.

Funny, I've always characterized these two movies as Red and Blue myself. Just some sort of funny "mind catalog" that I've always stuck to. Guess I've never had to think twice about it until you mentioned it.

Me too! I always figured they were trying to induce a feeling from the audience with this.

Morrow looks like he could be the arresting officer in III after a few years of aging. Unfortunately, III & IV were supposed to be within a short time of each other in TOS-time but they were made a few years apart where it could have been possible.

ST IV was writtten with Morrow in the Cartwright role, but Robert Hookes wasn't going to be available, so the position was renamed and recast.

Come to think of it, I hope the TOS-R project deletes the "Klingon D-7 configuration" line (or whatever the exact line is) and gives the Rommies a REAL original configuration BoP for "The Enterprise Incident"....

'Cause THAT always bugged ME! :)

I kind of liked the FASA version, the V-11 Stormbird. It is of course still a modified D-7, but at least FASA gave it some Romulan styling. Looks far better than the Romulans just suddenly having Klingon ships.

Still supremely unnecessary. No "friendliness" between the Roms and the Klings was ever implied...and frankly, as warlike as both seemed to be in nature, it seems unlikely to me the Klings would EVER, under ANY circumstance, share the design of one of their warships with a potential future enemy. :)

Unless someone in the prop department accidentally broke one of the (the only one!) Rommie ships. ;)

Personally, I always kind of liked the alliance idea. FASA actually gave it some degree of depth, whereas the idea has been suggested in official sources like the Encyclopedia but few details exist.
