Spooks Series 8

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Spooks Ep 1/8

Wednesday 4 November
9.00-10.00pm BBC ONE

The team is in a state of panic following Harry's kidnapping by FSB agent Viktor Sarkisian as the compelling spy drama starring Peter Firth, Hermione Norris and Richard Armitage returns for a new series.

It seems their worst fears are confirmed when the Sacred Army of Righteous Vengeance (SARV) posts footage of Harry's execution on the internet. However, Ros refuses to believe Harry is dead and leads Lucas North and the rest of the team on a mission to find him.

When Sarkisian's body is found, it seems they've lost their strongest lead. Ros sends Lucas to try to extract information from new CIA liaison officer Sarah Caulfield but, despite a clear attraction between the pair, it appears she can't assist him. However, help arrives from an unexpected source when former team member Ruth Evershed returns to the grid, fearing for her life.

So the new series of Spooks starts soon, I'm still not entirely sure I'll watch, I've been slowly losing interest over the last few series. I've found it hard to get motivated to watch the entire run, but ended up liking it by the end of it, so I'll probably give it a go.

Isn't the return of Nicola Walker /Ruth) reason enough to give it another try?

I just find it odd, that the BBC would spoil something "big" like that return, but I'll watch nonetheless, even though it changed a lot since series one.

We'll see were they go.

Sweet! Thanks for the update. I knew it was starting up again soon but didn't know when.

This has been one of the few shows I've managed to keep interest in for this long. Yes, it has gotten more and more out there over the years (with the MI-5 agents covering things that I would think would fall under MI-6's jurisdiction) and covers completely different ground than the first season now, but it still somehow manages to work well IMO.

I will be pissed if they kill off Harry though...the show would lose its core.

I hadn't watched Spooks since the original three left (series three?) but started watching again last series. I doubt Harry dies -- he's the only one who's been in it from the start, so it would be a shame to lose him. I'm betting that Ros is killed off this year (again).

Being in America, I'm way behind, but I'm happy to hear Ruth is making a return. Hopefully, she'll be reunited with Harry and not with Harry's body. I hope those damned series seven DVDs make their way here soon.

Fantastic news, I love Spooks to bits one of my favourite TV shows. Glad Ruth is back, though it is a bit of a shame the beeb have spoiled it (although given that this is Spooks Ruth will no doubt now be an evil double agent!)

If they did kill off Harry then the show needs to end. No Harry no Spooks. Everyone else is expendable (although the thought of the show ending with Harry and Ruth heading off into the sunset togeather would be brilliant)

I see spooks is back on form.
Its one of the few shows that keeps you on the edge of your seats because you know the writers are not afraid to go to a dark place.
Also i loved Malcolm exit is he the first person who has left the grid alive still with his own ID?

I'm pretty sure he is...although I guess Tessa did.

Absolutely fantastic. Sometimes I forget why this is my favourite show. You're spot on, gutwrenchinly written because they really can kill anyone. Heck I even suspected Harry might be on his way out (which might well kill the show)

What a lovely exit for Malcolm and as nice as it is to have Ruth back, wow that was nasty! Still leaves her handily single again ;)

I loved the episdoe where Harry took Ruth out on a date.
Don't know how i feel about her hating him now:( but notice Harry did not really try to save her husband guess he still has feeling for her:lol:

Well Harry knew damn well that even if he talked they were all dead, his only (slim) hope was to play for time.

Is Malcolm really gone now?

Didn't he just announce, that he would like to retire, and doesn't that include some kind of protocol (finishing loose ends, working in the new guy/gal, paperwork for pension, ...) before he can really retire?

I know it's a TV series, but being able to just retire in a mere five minutes seems unbelievable, even without saying his good byes to his colleagues, and the inevitable going away party at Thames house, which will be a blast.

Maybe he is still in the short remaining series (albeit 59 minutes instead of 41 minutes per episode) handing over his work. We'll see.

Ah, and it was a good episode btw, maybe even excellent for just seeing Ruth one more time.

Loved the episode overall. Good to see Ruth again, but damn if that whole storyline wasn't completely messed up.

For you Brits out there, is watching an American using a British accent as painful as it is watching most of the Brits playing Americans in Spooks? The accent of the actress who played Sarah Caulfield was absolutely horrid, as was that of the Texan. The same holds true for quite literally every other American character I can think of in the first 7 series too.

Minor complaint, but their accents are so bad it sucks me out of the show's reality. :)

A lot of the time, and we noticed how bad the American accents were, too.

Oh yeah it's equally annoying from our side of the pond as well when we see Americans playing Brits in US shows!

By the way anyone else somewhat disturbed to see Rani's dad from The Sarah Jane Adventures as thw bad guy!?

Wow if Malcolm and Harry are truly gone that means no original cast members would be left! That's a drastic turn, but if any show can pull it off, it's this one. I have to avoid this thread if you guys are going for major spoilers. Come on with the Region 1 dvds!
