I always felt that the red Dalek was wasted, they never did explain its unusual design.
Unfortunately the explanation is all too obvious - new toy variant.
Which I'd be OK with if it was a *cool* new design, but nothing tops the black NSD...

TDT is also claiming that the new TARDIS exterior will be Hartnell-style complete with white windows and St John's Ambulance badge. Another three weeks or so should prove that one right or wrong.
Ian Levine seems to think the interior will be a replica of the original Peter Brachacki console room set as well.
I'm perhaps most struck by how much Timothy Dalton looks like a hirsute Patrick Stewart in that photograph.
colour alone that is fine, I think the major question, is what were the gold attachments for? they look like they should do something.I always felt that the red Dalek was wasted, they never did explain its unusual design.
you are right, it was mostly down to being able to produce a new toy, and I agree the black Dalek Sec was great.I always felt that the red Dalek was wasted, they never did explain its unusual design.

I reckon that robot we see in WatersofMars is there for toy sales.
Come on now! It's the 21st Century! We're jaded! We're in recession! Is it too much to ask to have a BLACK TARDIS with BLACK WINDOWS?TDT is also claiming that the new TARDIS exterior will be Hartnell-style complete with white windows and St John's Ambulance badge.
Why the fuck do people still listen to Ian Levine?Ian Levine seems to think the interior will be a replica of the original Peter Brachacki console room set as well.

Ian Levine has a tendancy to believe just about every rumour thrown his way.
Both of those TARDIS descriptions reek of the "Moffat is going to put things back the way they should be" delusion some fans share.
Why the fuck do people still listen to Ian Levine?
I had to google him to discover who he was. He's the guy responsible for unleashing that song upon the world. For that alone, let us never speak his name again.
well if Waters of Mars does not air to November, its to late to get the robot in the shops for Christmas, and there is nothing from Planet of the Dead that would make that gooda toy, apart from an Michelle Ryan action figure, but im told girl figures dont sell well, so maybe now.I reckon that robot we see in WatersofMars is there for toy sales.
Though, ironically, there are no New Series toys being released this year!

I've been saying that since the 1st Bond with Dalton. They could have used him in NEMESIS instead of Tom Hardy, or in a TNG episode about a younger Picard or a brother.

Am I misremembering that Dalton auditioned for Shinzon in NEM? Because if he didn't he should have.
No, Stewart was considered for the role of the Castellan in "Arc of Infinity."Didn't Stewart audition for a Time Lord role in 'Trial of a Time Lord'?
