Spider-Man: Homecoming' anticipation thread

I'm glad to hear about RDJ in being in Homecoming. Not to surprised since it sounds like Iron Man and Spidey have a pretty good relationship in Civil War.
I am disappointed about Keaton though, I was really looking forward to him being the bad guy.

Excellent news about RDJ, not so good about Keaton. I wonder (a) how big a role Iron Man will have and (b) who they'll look at as an alternative to Batman, er Birdman, er, you know who.

I guess their going to have Stark be a mentor to Parker..plus it's a good way for Spider-man to get a hold of High tech toys to use like his web shooters must of had some input from Stark or atleast he supplied to tools needed to make them.

Well, this article talked about the impact of getting Downey to appear in the third Captain America movie:
However, it was the equally ambitious decision to add Iron Man that truly turned Captain America 3 into Civil War. Once you commit to writing that character into the film, you’re also adding one of the most famous actors on the planet, Robert Downey Jr. And he can’t be just some minor cameo.

Which suggests that Tony will have a pretty substantial role in Homecoming as well. Maybe not a starring role, but I'd expect something at least as substantial as Nick Fury's role in the Avengers films.

I wonder if they're going to go the comic route of Stark becoming the head of SHIELD over Coulson or Secretary of Defense with some of these developments.

I don't suppose Wayne Pygram will be getting a phone call. He could chew the fuck out of that part.

Nobody knows what part Keaton was actually being considered for -- people just guessed it was the Vulture because that's the only villain the rumors mentioned.

Keaton returns

Variety first reported that Keaton was being eyed to play the villain last month, but talks had barely begun before the actor pulled his name from consideration over money issues. Sources said the dispute occurred after Robert Downey Jr. was added to the cast to reprise his role as Tony Stark. At the time, it appeared as though the studio wouldn’t be able to afford both talents.

With Downey’s deal now closed, insiders say Sony and Marvel have now returned to Keaton and have found a way to make both parties happy.

What would be interesting is if they also use the comics to inspire a story where Peter starts to question the hero registration initiative and Tony Stark's motives. At the end of Captain America, Tony is still standing firmly behind the initiative. I doubt Nick Fury would do that so making Tony head of SHIELD would be a logical development.

Well, we do already know from the recent third season finale of AoS that Coulson has been replaced as Director...:)

I'm waiting to see this, but I'm even more interested in the sequel to Spider-man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Freight Car.

All the legit sites are reporting that Donald Glover has joined this movie.

Too bad it's almost certainly not as Miles Morales or Spider-Man.

Still cool though.
