Speculation on other Starships we might encounter?

At the very least, we know for certain it's not 1010 or 1040, because there's that very clear top line to the third digit. And things like 1000 and 1050, 60, 70, 80 and 90 are at least undesirable if not downright improbable from the "these ships are special" angle where TPTB would wish to imply a low number of ships built.

I guess we'll learn how "mission specific" this ship design is when we start seeing her unusual bits in action. Nothing special about shape as such. And no special gear aboard so far, other than the mushroom conservatory. But there are those spinning saucer sections... If those are somehow vital to the Spore Drive project, then Crossfield must be a purpose-built design (and it would indeed be odd to have more than two ships when there only are two experts we know of to run those ships - but there might be more, and Starfleet just didn't tell Straal and Stamets about the Other Guys).

Or then the bit about this being a Crossfield is pure obfuscation, and in fact NCC-1030 and 1031 are significantly modified from the existing Crossfield class...

I think my dream ship to see (Which would never happen in a Ba-Zillion years) would be for CBS to politely ask Alec Peters and Sean T if they could borrow their Ares Class design. That thing just screams TOS and Kick Ass at the same time. *sigh*

Nah, they should just use it anyway. No reason to bring it up.

Do we have any better screen shots of these yet?

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701, of course. I'm predicting it'll show up in season two, like Superman did in Supergirl. And it won't look like it used to.
The reliant style ship we saw in the first two episodes were pretty close to the movie versions at least in tone and overall shape and were pretty easy to recognise.

Makes me think there will be a few changes but they may not be too much of a shock.

The Klingon ships are another matter altogether though.

If we don't see the USS Exeter under Ron Tracy...I will declare this the worst show in human history and proclaim every chance I get that I enjoy The Orville more.

And so on and so forth.

Mark my words.

Going by the visual display of the ships seen in the mess hall aboard Discovery, which acts as a commeration for ships lost at the battle, only four ships were lost. These were the Shenzhou, the Europa, the Clarke, and the Yeager.

Actually there are 6 ships depicted in the mess hall, perhaps more. We don't get to see the whole place in a single frame.

Tracy might not be a Captain yet, or not Captain of the Exeter? We have no idea if that ship was constructed as of 2256.

Tracey looked old enough to have been a Captain for awhile. And the Constitution class was already 20 years old by the time of TOS, so it's possible he had the Exeter even during DSC.

This is the point where I would usually point out the lower registry number of the Exeter, and how that might be an indication of an earlier launch, but Discovery has shattered my last remaining shred of faith in registry number continuity. I'm dead inside.

The Constellation and Oberth didn't before this?
