News SpaceX heavy-lift vehicles: Launch Thread

The highway near Boca Chica is blocked off Monday and Tuesday, so the static fire of Starship SN5 may happen then. After that the 150 meter flight test should happen very quickly, possibly the same week.

That thing looks huge. I assume all prototypes are the final 9m diameter, or 2.5 times that of Falcon 9. I can already fit my whole apartment in it. I wonder how tall it is. The whole 50 meter second stage thing, minus 10-15 right now because there's no nose cone? It looks that way on photos I found looking for SN5.

these are final diameter, yes. So much ground support equipment has been built, it's hard to imagine them changing their mind now

the lower stage for super heavy is 70 meters tall. Upper stage would be 50 meters.

SN8 nearly ready..

I was playing around on heavens-above.com because insomnia and plotted out where the Tesla Roadster was. Sure enough it had a close mars approach a couple of weeks ago. I guess it even got reported on a couple of web pages. Starman got within 5mil km of Mars around Oct 9
