Space Battleship Yamato

for those who don't know it is now on youtube in 10 parts and frakin incredible loved it.

a) is it still there?
b) what's it listed under? Tried Space Battleship Yamato with and without 2010 to no avail.

The 10 part Youtube version was:
a) Not subbed
b) taken down

I found two streaming sources that were subbed (which was how I watched it - but it would be against forum rules to post a link.) How long they stay up is up to the sites hosting them.

I have a feeling that if you go to youtube and search for something like "Space Battleship Yamato ! Part 1" and then sorted the results by date you may find some videos with subtitles you might enjoy which seem to still be posted.;)

Cant wait to watch this myself especially after hearing what everyone else things of it. Might just watch it over weekend and will definitely be picking it up on bluray when its released.

I saw it..the movie is patterned greatly after ST09!!!!! Even duplicating certain scenes.

Though Kirk (Jim) and Pike survive their film unlike their Space battleship Yamato counterparts

The film did not set up for a sequal, unless its radically redone.

You mean like the last time they did an ending like that.

Hmm. This puzzles me, especially in light of the fact that Yamato is still extremely popular over there and has a large library of established material to draw from in order to make live-action sequels. Granted, I understand that they aren't typical Hollywood franchise machines in that same Western mindset, but it seems to me that they're severely limiting themselves by killing off a big chunk of the crew.

Then again, as Hartzilla2007 pointed out, the Comet Empire series (Yamato II) completely retconned the "Arrivaderci, Yamato" movie that killed off Kodai and Yuki at the end, so we could easily see that again, although it might get the "WTF" award from more modern movie-going audiences. That was the 70's back then, with different production values and audience tolerances. Might not go over too well this time around.

reboot - live-action film American & anime series

Makoto Kobayashi recently confirmed that he will be returning to the classic anime.
he is working on a reboot of the original Space Battleship Yamato series
This announcement comes soon after the apparent success of the Japanese film adaptation. The film saw so much praise that a Hollywood production company, Skydance, is in talks to purchase the American rights to a live-action film based on the story.
if the film comes to the United States, the new anime series will surely get an English dub, and may even end up on a North American cable station, like Cartoon Network.

always a good thing when more scifi animation comes to US cable tv.
It sounds like the live-action film thought would take a while and need a big Hollywood company attached.

yep found one but it's missing part 4 and part 10.

Quite good from what I've watched with one scene that might have been influced by nuBSG.

If anyone in interested in the film's soundtrack or the soundtrack from the complete original series let me know. The film score does agreat job with most of the original music series and gives it am more epic feel.

Just watched it. Some nice SFX moments! Interesting take on the Gamilas and Starsha. It was definitely a fun movie to watch for nostalgia.

Does the film use the original song from the series?

The original theme song with lyrics from the series is not used but mostly all the main themes are used thru out the film and a bit updated (since the orginal 70's version always had that sorta disco feel to them lol). there is alot of new music to, its sounds great to me.
