Space: 2099 A Remastering Of Space:1999

That's some nice work there and I actually like most of what they've done which is kind of rare for these projects including say TOS-R.

My only complaints were that the editing of the date was a bit awkward and that simplifying Koenig's query to the computer while maybe being more factually correct seemed to diminish how it appeared he was trying to catch it off-guard with a trick question.

The FX work and the editing are very impressive but I wish they weren't dicking around with the dates. A lot of the audio edits around the dates sounded garbled.

Visually though, it looks superb.

It looked pretty interesting. I can tell a lot of work went into it. But the changes in dialogue-particularly the date stuff-sort of takes away the charm.

At first I thought this would be about a reimagining/remake of the show. That would probably be better.

If only Martin Landau was as interesting on the show as he was getting us to watch it. Drab colors and sloooooooow stories really hampered this show. I still watched though.

I actually like what I've seen so far. The dates thing doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might. Though I rather did like the new explaination of how and why the Moon is able to move so far and so fast throughout the galaxy.

I also would be interested in seeing the epidsodes place more in order, this is a neat idea and I would love to see it move forward.

I would watch it and feel like a kid all over again. Just now I would have TWO Moonbase Alphas! I mean who wouldn't love to see the eagles fly again!

It just seems though the project is stuck in limbo in dealing with the PTB.

Are there authorized to this by the series owners? Also, couldn't they re-master those god awefull 70's haircuts? LOL LOL

I would definetly watch this when ( and if ) done, I watched the show when i was kid even had a big Eagle toy ship etc..

Before they digitally replace the SFX in old Sci Fi series, they should finish colorizing all the black-and-white movies and then dub dialogue into old silent movies.

I loved the show as a kid. Watched it in Detroit on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Channel 9. Came on Saturday late afternoon, right after curling!

Hope this project gets off the ground! Brings back great memories, and makes it contemporary, without making it "dark" ala Lost in Space or Battlestar Galactica.

I hate this kind of revisionism. Space: 1999 is a visual masterpiece, it doesn't need dicking around with to make it more "contemporary". The original effects were state of the art, and still work today. There's nothing wrong with the pacing either, and the scripts (first season anyway) are generally excellent. His "chronological" episode order is complete bollocks too.

When you're a huge fan of something special, you don't need to piss on it to make it "better"... Leave it alone!

While it does have more FX shots, it does suffer like old BSG with shots being re-used. Look at when they have multiple Eagles launch. The biggest give away it's a re-used shot is the moonbuggy on the edge of the launch pad.

And while it would be interesting to see the end result I'm not sure it would be a good return on investment for the producers - I'm not sure the market is there.

I had that too! The huge Mattel one! Was as popular with me as my SW Falcon! :)

To be honest, I still like the idea. It doesn't really destroy the old and gives us a different take on it is all. I found I liked both TOS and TOS-R.

The remasters didn't take away from my enjoyment of the old and now I have both :)

If they do anything, why not change the baseball question to be historically accurate. It's almost there anyhow: Who won the world series in 2004? (not 1998) Answer: The Boston Red Sox over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Easy fix.

I've been waiting to get these on DVD for a while now. I may just have to pick up the originals before they change them.
