Sorry! No TBBS Valentine's Day Extravaganza

Oh don't worry about him, he's like this every year. And I know that people have enjoyed it in the past, and I've seen some really sweet messages so he's not going to get me down. Thanks for the well-wishes everyone! I'm actually not a big Valentine's Day person in RL but this year it happens to coincide with a trip to see a certain poster here, so we are both looking forward to it. :)

Have a great time, Kestra! :)

It's okay, Kes. We're grateful for what you've done in the past for Valentine's Day, so take a needed break and enjoy it. :)

Made up holiday, nothing lost.
So no one gained anything from Kestra's previous efforts? The absence of those efforts is no loss for anyone? That's harsh.

@Kestra ... "I hope you have a wonderful February 14th, lovey or not." :techman:

Valentines day is about nothing more than consumerism and exclusion. Anything absent from that supposed "holiday" is nothing lost, quite the opposit actually. We, as a society, would benifit more from its elimination than its continued existence.

I'm actually with you on this one.

Valentine's Day, like any other day, is about whatever you make it about.

Those that believe it can be nothing more than consumerism are simply people who cannot see past their own nature as a consumer. There's nothing consumeristic about what Kestra has been doing, yet it's still as valid a celebration of the day as any other.

+1. Well said.

You did a fine job with this last time, Kes. You deserve some time off this year. :)

For me, it's the time of year where I traditionally confuse "Valentine" with "Valen's Time." Faith manages.

I just wish they made Valentine's Day Cadbury Eggs. We finally got Halloween eggs last year!

Safe journey and fun adventures to you, Kestra.

I'm not that massive a fan of the day myself (I think it should be Valentine's day everyday, same with Mother's Day - our loved ones should be spoiled as often as possible)... it can however be quite cute to see teenagers and even the elderly carrying stuffed toys and flowers all over the place that day... very sweet scenes. It should happen more often though, just because!

Oh, hush. Don't ruin it for the rest of us. Even if some of the rest of us aren't keen on it either.

You can't ruin an evil. You can only expose, destroy, accept and/or mock an evil. Ruin is what the evil causes.

^You might complain about V day but you are obviously enjoying it

I detest that holiday. In my 30 years I have to say that it ranks as one of the worst days out of the year. Ranks right up with my birthday on a personal level. On the whole, it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. In fact, I'd say that it leads to near irreparable harm to the psyche of the youth.

And please, do not mistake my attempt at creative responses as enjoyment. While I may enjoy debate and discussion of interesting and intelligent topics, this topic posses nothing of the sort.

I must have missed the thread title or OP saying "Tell us what you think about Valentine's Day."

Or where Kestra is part of the Florist/Candy Heart Industrial Complex bent on consumerism and wasn't just trying to do something nice for people around here, which you've now tried to turn into something ugly.

Or where you started your own thread to whine about Valentine's and all the other holidays you hate instead of threadshitting on this one with your "creative responses" (which are anything but; some sadsack pulls this crap every year) and making it all about you.

Or why you couldn't have just limited yourself to the one drive-by remark and not gone for an additional three making the same damn point and drawing other responses, thus making your trollish tangent the primary discussion of the thread.

It's one thing when you do this kind of stuff in TNZ where it's less regulated, but do not do it here or you'll be my Valentine, and that's not a good thing.

Best. Threat. Ever.
Fine work Locutus.

+2. I'll second that.

My wife would agree with you. Strawberry creme eggs, perhaps.

Thanks for the well-wishes, guys!

Pretty much how I feel about it.

As should everybody, I think.

I will also drink to that.

This year, for Valentine's Day, I'm taking the Mrs. up to Ottawa for the weekend. Winterlude awaits. Any excuse for a weekend getaway is a good thing.

Cadbury Strawberry Creme Valentine's Eggs? Quick, bbailey, patent that idea. It will make you a very rich man. :D
