Sorry! No TBBS Valentine's Day Extravaganza

Cadbury's Creme Eggs should be protected from all interference, especially from foreigners such as macloudt and bbailey861.

Go and ruin your own country's confectionery

They already ruined it.

Nah, Hershey's did that by pulling up stakes and leaving Smith's Falls ON after having been there damn near a hundred years. They were still making a profit, too. They closed 6 North American plants (3 US/3 CAN I believe) and decided to open a plant in Mexico instead. Apparently hiring employees for 2 bucks an hour appeals to them. Cadbury and Mars make better products, anyway.

Hershey's is literally the worst chocolate I have ever tasted. It has a vomit aftertaste, weird. I think somebody here said it was something to do with a chemical they add to stop it melting in the hot summers over there.

I will always, always love Hershey chocolate because of family ties to the town and the factories, but I'm more than a little disillusioned by the corporation itself and their cutthroat profit-above-all attitude that's developed.

Thanks for doing this before Kes, hope you and everybody else has a lovely day. :)

Made up holiday, nothing lost.
I know what this is really about. You just need a hug.

It doesn't have any perceivable chocolate taste to me. I recently tried it again and it was very greasy and.. brown. But no chocolate.

There will be a new thread tonight once we* get my act together.

You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.
But I look around me and I see it isn't so.
Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs.
And what's wrong with that?

I know, I post this every year around Valentine's Day, but it always makes me smile:

Exactly, exactly. One of my favourite Wings songs despite its cheesiness.

It's great that you'll be taking over.

I've heard the Eminem mashup version of that song. A classic. :bolian:

Also, yay! You saved Christmas, I mean Valentine's Day! In Valen(tine)'s name...

So no one gained anything from Kestra's previous efforts?
Well, I gained my very first valentine card ever :) (sending cards is not the custom in my country. We give away flowers and chocolates to our wives or fiances.)

Splendid idea! Hug attack! {{{{{{{Data Holmes}}}}}}} :D

I agree with Data Holmes that it's a made up holiday. But wasn't every holiday at one point made up by someone? Celebrating love is surely not the worst reason for a holiday. I simply ignore the commercial aspects and don't buy stuff but give away a jar of homemade rose-petal jam or a handfull of my homemade acacia honey fudge.

Enjoy your holiday, Kestra :)

As RevdKathy pointed out to me Valentine's Day actually has claim to being an ancient celebration, going all the way back to the Roman Empire, with some fertility ritual or other going on at this time of year going back even further.

Spot on with the vomit aftertaste. My brother describes eating Hershey's chocolate as akin to eating a wax candle. I think it's an apt description, though the candle probably tastes better.
