It's a wonder as to how they mangled Sonic so much in the first trailer, when they can clearly produce a much better likeness.
I completely agree. There is no reason they couldn't have just done a fully animated movie based on the world of the games, I think a lot of people, myself included, would have preferred that.It still has the inherent problem most movies of this type have; that they're forcing creatures from another world into our world when they have a perfectly good world of their own to set their movie in, and no movie has demonstrated that this setup successfully works. I'd be perfectly happy with it just being a 3D animated movie.
I felt the same thing about the Smurf movies. They had an already established interesting fantasy world to set it in, and instead chose to have them visit our world.
Exactly this. I'm so tired of this trope. I want to see those creatures in their world, not ours.It still has the inherent problem most movies of this type have; that they're forcing creatures from another world into our world when they have a perfectly good world of their own to set their movie in, and no movie has demonstrated that this setup successfully works. According to one person in contact with one of the animators, it wasn't done in a crunch.Animator- We just had to not see our families for a few months and take one five minute break all day but we did it!
They did eventually do a fully CGI animated The Smufs movies, Smurfs: The Lost Village, that did end up getting better reviews than the live action/CGI ones.
Yeah, it was after the live action movies.Yeah, I think I heard about that, but that was after the first two live-action movies, wasn't it?
I had the exact same thought when the announced the animated one.Begs the question of why they didn't do that in the first place.
