Something I missed about Homefront until now.

I was watching Homefront today, and there's an exchange I didn't quite notice in the past.

SISKO: And you think the President isn't willing to fight?
LEYTON: I think the President is a long way from home. This isn't his world. We can't expect him to care about it the way we do.

I always thought of Leyton's false flag attacks as a fascist reaction to a real threat, but I didn't notice until now that there's a racist, 'Human nationalist' element to it too. This episode keeps hitting closer and closer to home as time moves forward.

I had not thought about that, but now that you mention it, it makes sense. Before Worf, season 4 was supposed to begin with the Vulcans withdrawing from the Federation. There are other points in which various planets question whether the Federation could be relied on to defend everyone (Let He Who is Without Sin, In the Cards). Those could be vestiges of plot elements that were never fully developed.
