Spoilers Something from DS9 plays a big role in PIC S3

NCC-73515

Vice Admiral
Admiral
S3E3 revealed that

at least some of the bad guys are
Rogue Changelings!

And they look like root beer with foam :D

Holy shit I can't believe
the Ferengi have returned to the villainous ways and reclaimed the title of eminent adversary of the next generation crew.
It makes so much sense to use these guys again and is a nice tie back to their position in the series.
Let's forget all that
democracy bullshit that Rom was shoving down our throats
Thank god they got
Armin Shimmerman back for one last ride
A toast to the
emissary of the Profits

I appreciated the DS9 vibes I got from the last episode. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
Also, there was a nice subtle reference to Rene Auberjonis (Odo) from Worf, which was nice.

Given his nature as a shapeshifter, it's one role where re-casting wouldn't be as much of a problem, were they to bring Odo back

Especially given that (as has been noted by others in this form) his son looks almost exactly like him - a stitch of dialogue about having "finally perfected the human form" would make both in-universe sense and be a beautiful tribue out-of-universe.

I appreciate the use of the spoiler tags in this thread by some posters, but some of you are skirting very close to what I would consider spoiler territory without using them.

I have edited a few posts, and it may may seem a bit heavy handed, but I feel very strongly on this issue. Please use spoiler tags if there is even a remote chance that it will spoil someone's viewing experience. Not everyone has access to every episode as it airs. When in doubt, use spoiler tags!

Thanks!

I always envisioned Founders as having a liquid metal like natural state, like Terminator. Not an organic blended animal matter appearance. The new Great Link would look like flesh and organ soup going from these new animations.

Also, Worf says that the Changeling/Founder needed to join the Link in order to recover/regenerate, but we all know that the Changeling only needed a bucket?

Is Armin Shimerman in Picard?

Thank you for the spoiler warnings! I have not been watching Picard, but if they're gonna have DS9 characters in it, I'll probably watch it eventually :)

Would I be able to understand what's happening in Picard if I just watch season 3, or do I need to start from the beginning?

You don't need to have seen S1 or 2. Some non-relevant details may leave you with a question, and then you can simply read the MA article about it :D

The only things from the previous seasons that are relevant to the current season that you might need to know are...

Picard has a Romulan former Tal Shiar girlfriend and has been working the last couple of years with Seven of Nine and her girlfriend Raffi. Raffi has had mental health and substance abuse issues, and as a result is on the outs with her family.

Other than that, I'd say you're good to go.

I can't think of any except Worf, and he feels like he's there just because he was in TNG.
Anyone who's been watching Picard, correct me if I'm wrong.
