Some thoughts about DS9 novels by DRGIII

I'm a big fan of DS9-show.
I like DS9-relaunch novels. I really like DRGIII books, but sometimes have problems to accept and follow some plots and events.

First of all, DRGIII loves to destroy:

The Dominion: Olympus Descending: The Great Link
TP: Plagues of Night: DS9 old station
TP: Raise the Dawn: The wormhole
TF: Revelation and Dust: Nanietta Bacco

It's OK, but for some plots there is no further development.
It seems to me that only DRGIII wants to deal with Odo, Changelings and Dominion. And there is no other authors who wants to follow and develop DRGIII's attempts.
But why? Odo is very perspective and versatile character. He was highly popular in DS9-show, but in TrekLit he is simply abandoned and forgotten after "Olympus Descending".
May be there was some difficulties in "Olympus Descending"? Some events, that closed doors for other DS9-authors? I know about "Revelation and Dust" issues, but it is the first step since 2005 to develop so great character.
And there is still a chance to get nothing about Odo and Changelings from other authors after "Revelation and Dust".

I too would like others authors to start writing DS9 books - not that I don't like DRGIII's work with DS9; its just the 2000 - 2009 DS9 novels had more than authors involved and there was plenty of fresh ideas all round.

There was a scene between Odo and President Bacco in Revelation and Dust which I imagine DRGIII will follow-up on some day.

I'm bias, but I would love to see Una McCormack write a DS9 story. She does such an excellent job with Garak, and she's written the cast before. Just never in the present continuity.

As far as DRGIII goes...he's not my favorite writer, with the exception of Twilight. Which I'll fully admit was fantastic. But despite that, I don't think its really his fault. DS9 has been off kilter ever since the time jump. I really hope it comes together again.

Edit: Apparently her TNG novel might also be a DS9 crossover? That would be amazing if true.

The key words are "on some day".

As far as I understood the next DS9-related novel will be published in far-far future. Only one... next year.

I like "Unity" by (del: Una McCormack) S.D. Perry. At least, she contributed to the development of Odo character in her novel. Sadly, she sends Odo back, because of "he has still things to do".

To answer your question I don't think the news about Home Again by Una McCormack needs to be posted under spoiler tags the news is already all over the internet about this book .I didn't post any major spoilers about this book.

Beverly is only temporarily assigned to Deepspace 9 as chief Medical officer until the stattion can find another officer to take over the role of Chief medical officer.

Yeah, you're wrong I'm afraid. It may be a really small thing, but if I hadn't already read the events of Peaceable Kingdoms, I would be pretty pissed that we have this new spoiler rule and someone disregards it because what?

Hell, the main reveal in into Darkness was all over the net, yet I and others managed to avoid it.

It was hard to hear on the podcast but near the end of the interview she said David George was working on this novel either ds9 or a TNG type novel. 8 of 5 has highlights of this interview and he posted it on his website.

Cool, I hope so - I know some people have not entirely enjoyed DRG's work of late, but I have - and I do want to know what happens next with Altek, Taran'atar, the Even Odds, Kira, Odo and others. And really, despite some of its structural issues, Revelation and Dust was truly a good DS9 novel, not perfect, but rewarding in its integration of all these characters - I liked how we checked in with everyone, really (except Jake, sadly).

Also, has Spock been mentioned since his plot-disappearance in the DRG's Typhon Pact duology?
