He's also not allowed to vote in Canadian federal elections since he's a long term expat, though he could reclaim it if he reestablished residency in Canada.

However, it is woefully inappropriate for you to inject yourself into a conversation to tell another adult how to conduct a conversation. People like you are the reason Donald Trump is going to be our next President.
What even more bizarre is that while ex-pats can't vote, they are allowed to run. A man who's been living in Seattle for over 5 years discovered that while he'd lost his right to vote, he hadn't lost his right to be a candidate. So he decided to run in the last federal election, just to show how absurd the rules are.
The riding he ran in? The one represented by then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He ran as an Independent, after filing the nomination papers (100 signatures needed from eligible voters in that riding) and paying the required fee. He did make it clear to people that he really didn't expect to win, didn't really want anyone to vote for him, and that this was just to make a point.
It would have been hilarious if he really had won, like the time or two when a Rhinoceros Party candidate came close to winning.

I'm gladly voting for Hillary, and am also gratified to see so many Trek actors stand against Donald Trump.
I'd be okay with the expectation those folks stay quiet, as long as various religious figures were held to the same standard.
