Some new Stargate Universe clips

I'll watch the first few episodes, simply because it's Stargate. But I didn't care for the promo earlier in the thread. SG-1 had some of it's finest hours doing their wonderful planet-of-the-week stories, and their humor. After five years of BSG I'm not sure I'm in the mood again for dark and gritty space opera.

Exactly, it has been done now, it is too late, I think SGU missed the boat. If maybe SGU ran alongside nuBSG, that might have been complimentary. Now though, I think I'm in the mood for something different.

Just remember that even if this show is dark and gritty, it's still gonna be Stargate's version of dark and gritty, which at worst will be dim and bumpy.

"dark", "gritty"... Did someone say the dreaded "edgy" and I missed it?

The show has potential, I won't deny that. But at the moment it just seems to be 'how dark can we make Stargate.' Which is OK, as long as the writers realise that just making it dark and everyone miserable doesn't make for good drama, in and of itself. BSG realised this (bar a few stumbles), when, for example, late seasons of Buffy didn't. I hope we don't just get SG-1 a third time, but without the humour or lightheartedness.

I still haven't actually seen anything INTERESTING yet.

Bunch of angsty people, running around in corridors, shouting.

And erm, well that's about it. What exactly is supposed to get us excited about this show? Or attract new viewers?

Thanks for the link, Brent. First impression is that this is a nuBSG clone. I don't mind if they take some parts of BSG to make it their own, but not an out right clone would be boring. I will give it a chance when it comes out this Fall. I miss watching new Stargate episodes on the t.v., hopefully SGU will fill the void.

Stargate is jumping on the wrong bandwagon. "Dark and gritty" is passe. With V and Spielberg's new show on TNT on the horizon, alien invasions is the way to go. Bring back the Goa'uld only this time, let the Goa'uld take over the whole planet and Our Heroes are a small band of survivors fighting against overwhelming odds.

And no need for much in the way of expensive space-based SFX, either. ;)

Lesbian officers doesnt that violate dont ask dont tell? So i see there throwing protocal out the window.

So instead of ripping off NuBSG they should rip off the second SG-1 movie?

Are you saying V is being remade?

Riiighhttt....

The series is about humans OFF WORLD at a base that they get to using alien technology to get to, and now they are trapped on an alien ship.

And you are worried about don't ask don't tell? What are they gonig to do, kick the lesbians off the ship?

I think the lesbian characters aren't military but civilians so no worries on the don't ask don't tell front.

I doubt that, they are on an off world military base.

I think no one really gives a damn about the stupid American rules that will hopefully be overturned by the time the show airs.

No, the lesbians on the show are the IOA woman played by Ming Wa and her partner, neither of them are a part of the military.

Plus I believe there are a number of non-military characters in Universe.

It looks like SGU is imitating nuBSG.

I'll go with that. Not a Fun looking series like the last two. The clip left me wtih the impression it's just called Stargate because they have used some of the sets.
