I remember early in the New Frontier novels, Captain Calhoun gave McHenry the desired course and speed and after a few beats asked why they weren't moving, and McHenry was like, you didn't say engage, and Calhoun just tells him if he gives him a course and speed, he wants to go there at that speed, and he doesn't have to wait for a further order.

I think most would simply stick to 'Helm, warp x, please', even if that is a less 'fun' answer.
