^Haven't quite caught up to Precipice, so I'm leaving that spoiler box closed for now.

All I'll say about it is that includes the first time a certain word has been used in dialogue in any official Star Trek release.

I wonder why it was used there. Star Trek had managed more than 40 years without it and suffered no apparent loss. The unusually explicit love scene in Zero Sum Game seemed just as unnecessary.

(The word actually appears twice in Precipice.)

I think I can guess which word.

Well, I finally finished Destiny and loved every minute of it. Fantastic trilogy, great story, barely ever put a step wrong. To tell the truth I thought maybe the shine was coming off of the TNG novels because I found Resistance, Before Dishonor and Greater than the Sum so lacklustre, but this trilogy demonstrated that there was still plenty of energy and interest in the premise, and made me really excited about it. Really cool idea, really well executed. Bravo to Mr. Mack and all the collaborators.

And now it feels like the right time to take a break from Trek Lit, for while at least. About a year ago I started to read the 'A Time to' series, and since then I've read 21 trek novels (that series, the TNG relaunch leading up to Destiny, the Titan series leading up to Destiny, and now Destiny itself). I have read other novels interspersed between these, but it has taken up a significant chunk of my reading time (outside of holidays I usually only manage to grab 30-40 minutes of reading in bed a night before going to sleep) and I need to spread my net a little wider for the moment, take in some other thoughts and ideas. I love Trek Lit and will definitely come back to the series, but I need a little breather and concluding Destiny seems like the perfect time to do so. I'll still be checking in here from time to time but not as much as I used to, I'll miss yous guys and our interesting debates.

Reading : A Storm of Swords update - I'm absolutely floored by what just happened. I literally had to re-read the last part of the chapter to see if what I thought I read was what I actually read. This is an incredible book so far, but I'm in shock.

Just finished Warpath. Never been a fan of the Mirror Universe, and rather annoyed by the extended stretches of Prophet-vision. All in all, finished frustrated, disappointed, and a bit confused. Ah well, on to Resistance.

I'm currently reading the last two installments of Greg Keyes great "The Age of Unreason"-Fantasy-series. Yesterday I finished the third part, "Empire of Unreason", today i'll start the fourth and last one, "The Shadows of God". Certainly the weirdest and most unusual, but also one the most entertaining fantasy-series I've ever read.

Really? I loved Warpath, and would say that it is the best Post-Unity DS9 story.

Reading (and enjoying) A Choice of Catastrophes. But when did Lt Radha's name get changed to Rahda?

It was spelled "Rahda" in the original episode, apparently. The ST Concordance and the ST Encyclopedia rendered it as "Rhada." It probably should be "Radha," but it isn't.
