So what are you reading? Part VI

I mean if u have time to read all them ok. But i cant read that much star trek at once ill be burned out on it. So i think if u only read BF DISHonOR, and greater THAN the SUM you would be ok!

I appreciate the insight.......I'm like you, I would totally get burnt out on Trek if I read all that in a row. However, I tend to space the Trek books out between various others books ranging from Stephen King to Ted Dekker to Ernest Cline to everything else in between so as to avoid getting burned out exactly as you say.

As such, I'll read 1 or 2 of those trek books about every 4-5 books I read, with the current book I'm reading being "Storm of Swords" by Martin. (And man is this book already better than "Clash of Kings"! ;)

I am so excited for you to get to Destiny. I know you're not there yet, but I'm just saying.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty pysched about getting there myself.

Have you got to Destiny yet ?

I'd be interested to see what you think as although I like most of the post relaunch novels, I am not a big fan of this trilogy.

The consensus seems to be against me on this.

Nice Yes logo by the way. I am off to see Rick Wakeman in a week or so !

I haven't yet. Last read "Resistance" which was sub-par, IMO. The trilogy certainly sounds good to me from what I know about it, but I will say I'm a bit burnt out on the Borg so we'll see if that story can overcome that.

I only wish that meant you were off to see Yes with Anderson back in place rather than what they're calling Yes right now. I'd love to get one more true Yes album out of them before Jon or Chris passes on instead of Drama Redux, but I doubt it's going to happen. Just going to have to live with Magnification as the last true Yes album and looking back at it, I can do that.

In the meantime, enjoy your evening with Rick! ;) I just spent mine with Elton John last night and was amazed at how strong his voice and playing still is.

I will look forward to your take on Destiny.

I know what you mean about Yes but I don't think Jon or Rick could do the touring anymore. I enjoyed the Benoit / Oliver version a couple of years ago, but FFH seems a bit too 'Buggled' in places.

Haven't you got the Anderson Wakeman tour coming up next month ? That was fantastic over here.

Anyhow, getting off topic I suppose !;)

Finished Reap The Whirlwind a couple days ago. I am convinced (as if the first couple times I've read the books didn't convince me) that if ever a miracle happens and ST novels are turned into shows/films, Vanguard should be the first.

Now it's back to my 100 Great Novels list after taking a summer break from it. Swift's Gulliver's Travels

Yeah, but it would have to be on Showtime IMO. If only so we can get Quinn's
"I ain't Starfleet, so fuck the Prime Directive"
line.

I read Star Trek: Cast No Shadow and Star Trek: A Choice of Catastrophes. Both books were a lot of fun.

I'm also halfway through Romney's 159-page economic plan, but I'll keep any Romney comments to TNZ.

star wars knight errant by John Jacson Miller. finally finished game of thrones loved it 5 :bolian::bolian::bolian::bolian::bolian:.

^Haven't quite caught up to Precipice, so I'm leaving that spoiler box closed for now. :)
All I'll say about it is that includes the first time a certain word has been used in dialogue in any official Star Trek release.

I wonder why it was used there. Star Trek had managed more than 40 years without it and suffered no apparent loss. The unusually explicit love scene in Zero Sum Game seemed just as unnecessary.

(The word actually appears twice in Precipice.)

Yeah, I was actually rather shocked when I heard it was in the book, but I'm not really that upset by it. Honestly, I'm just glad it was at least used in a place where it made sense. The use of it in Kobayashi Maru was more of a head scratcher for me.
I honestly don't remember there being anything that explicit in Zero Sum Game... but then again I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse books, and A Song of Ice and Fire, so it takes quite a bit to phase me a this point. So far American Gods is the only book I've come across that was too explicit for me.

Would I get more enjoyment out of The Darkness Drops Again, if I read Ex Machina first?

I just finished reading the sorrows of empire by David Mack and quite enjoyed it and the continuation of the mirror universe. Now about to start reading hominids by Robert J. Sawyer

Would I get more enjoyment out of The Darkness Drops Again, if I read Ex Machina first?

Infinitesimally, perhaps, but TDDA was written with the understanding that it was part of Mere Anarchy first and foremost and needed to stand on its own.

True, there are a couple of things in TDDA that subtly follow up on elements from ExM, but it might be just as enjoyable to read TDDA first, then read ExM, and go, "Ohh, so that's what led up to what was mentioned in TDDA!"

Still catching up with my comic book reading. Read six months worth of BIRDS OF PREY and SIRENS OF GOTHAM. (When the heck did Green Arrow and Black Canary get divorced?)

Justice League: Cry for Justice, I think. I haven't read it myself-- I'm behind on my Green Arrow and Black Canary.

Ok, because I already have the Mere Anarchy trade, but not EM. So I think I'm gonna just read TDDA first, and then next time I want to buy an older Trek book, I'll download EM.

I'm ready to chuck Subterranean by James Rollins out the window... except it's on my e-reader. I've never had a novel go from awesome to complete crap this quickly. I feel like I'm reading a kid's book.

There were dinosaurs! Then there was a field of wheat! Then there was an ancient tribe! Then there was a dream! Then there was a terrorist!
