I've read all the Destiny books, as well as KRAD's Singular Destiny. Just between us, I really would have like to see even more changes, like Vulcan exploding. One of my favorite aliens in Trek is the Andorians, so naturally, their world got blown to smithereens. Anyone for New Andor?

I just picked up Mere Anarchy (if that title's right) because I'm in a Classic Trek mood with the movie a few hops, skips and jumps away. I haven't even turned the first page yet, but I like a lot of the authors listed in the Contents page.

And let me recommend the Trek comics being produced by IDW. Most of them are very good. They're in the middle of TNG: The Last Generation, which is the best TNG they've produced. They also have a mini-series called "Mission Ends," which talks about why the Big Three went their separate ways before they had to reunite for STTMP. They also have a comics series in which the spotlight on a particular alien. The first one is to be a romp with ... wait for it ... Tribbles!

Give them a try!

I'm only a few stories into Sky's the Limit on account of having no time to pleasure read, but I finally found the last two Destiny books in stores (oh, and thanks for the spoiler Randy), as well as KRAD and CLB's latest entries, so I'm hoping to get to them soon enough and not have to avoid half the threads in the forum anymore.

Elsewhere, I've started on Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreisden (didn't sell well? can't imagine why, overbloated thing...), Maggie: A Girl of the Streets and Other Stories by Stephen Crane (dirteh! there is such a thing as being too vernacular...) and Toni Morrison's Sula (I hate small towns). On the nonfiction side, I'm reading The Spiritual History of Ice: Romanticism, Science, and the Imagination by Eric G. Wilson (don't much care for his style, but the research is good).

I just finished reading Over a Torrent Sea.

I know, I'm late.

I am now re-reading the entire Titan series, and currently starting The Red King again.

I'm also actively searching for my copy of Articles of the Federation, because it BUGS me that I cannot find it, and contemplating reading Rising Son & Unity again, both from perhaps my favorite DS9 writer. Tho Dafydd ab Hugh is pretty cool too.

There have been a lot of measurement errors in some of the Trek books. In a few, it was obvious from the context that someone decided the measurements should be metric instead of imperial, but didn't do any conversion calculations. They just kept the number the same and substituted the word metres for feet.

That's pretty much what I've decided to do. Although I feel kinda guilty, because I got Betrayal, Sacrifice (in Hardcover), and Fury. I just sorta randomly picked up the books when I was at Wal-Mart and had extra money.

Has there been any pre-release buzz about the Fate of the Jedi books yet? I'm considering reading the NJO and then just skipping to them, once I finish the Clone Wars and Dark Times stuff.

LotF killed any interest I've had in the ongoing Luke & co. adventures (and I bought every book in tNJO, Dark Nest, and LotF as they came out, whatever the format), so I haven't been paying much attention to the buzz on FotJ. However, it has two of the three same authors and the same format. And it looks to be relying heavily on the events of LotF. I can't imagine it'll be anything other than more of the same.

God, I used to like Allston and Denning. I still do, actually. I wish I knew what had happened.

I think that Star Wars's failure for me, right now, is its inability to decide if Evil and Good are actually real or not. Jacen's fall started as a chance to really explore moral ambiguity - he fell from the desire to do more GOOD, not out of any selfish reason - but then as soon as he fell, he instantly became the same stereotypical ranting idiot villain we've seen over and over again. And, well, then... He Just Had To Die. Luke, who redeemed VADER, decided that Jacen, who had by his own admission fallen out of the desire to do good, wasn't worth the effort.

On the flipside, you've got the Clone Wars; cute stories about good and evil (specifically good winning against evil) set inside a war where both sides are fighting for the same guy so he can gain power for himself.

The whole thing is morally incoherent.

I just finished Star Trek: Destiny Book II. About to jump into Book III. Can't wait to see how this all ends. This has been some of the best trek fiction in a long time.
On my "to read" list is: Star Trek: Mere Anarchy, A Singular Destiny, Titan: Over a Torrent Sea, Star Wars: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, and Star Wars: Death Star. I'm also waiting for the release of Star Trek Vanguard: Open Secrets, and Star Trek TOS: Troublesome Minds.
I'm also 3 books in on Star Wars:LOTF. I will eventually jump back to that.
