i havent read enough victorian literature outside of Holmes stories to really compare myself, but i have seen Lovecraft described as an intense Anglophile, so that kinda tracks

He might have preferred being compared to an earlier era. He occasionally wrote in an archaic English style in his letters, too. I've got the old five volume Selected Letters from Arkham House. Other publishers have done other collections of his letters, because he wrote so many, but five volumes felt like enough.
I finished up the story in Kingdom Come, which was fantastic, and I took a short break to read Star Trek: Red Shirts - Ghosts of the 21st Century #1, written by Gerry Duggan with art by Scott Buoncristiano. I finished that a couple hours ago, and I liked it. As is normal for first issues it's all introduction and set, but I like what's being set up and I'm very curious to see where it's going.
Re-reading Uhura's Song. The Enterprise has arrived at Sivao, and made contact with the inhabitants.

Finished rereading Melinda Taub’s The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch and reading Tana French’s The Searcher this weekend. About to start Robin Hobb’s Blood of Dragons and Sue Grafton’s W is for Wasted.

I have to confess, when I first saw this I read it as Xenomorph, which I'm thinking would probably be a very different book.
Where xenomorphs are concerned, I think I'll stick with "Michigan J. Xenomorph," from Spaceballs.
Made it through The Ghosts of N-Space. If I ever feel a sense of obligation and listen to the radio version, at least I know it will be over more quickly.
Now reading one of Kerry Greenwood’s Phryne Fisher mystery novels. Definite improvement. It’s the second one I’ve read, and like the first, it’s… spicier than the TV version. I’ll read at least a few more of these.

On the one day, it's Pertwee's last performance as the third Doctor. On the other, it's not particularly good and everyone sounds old and tired.
I'll put it like this. I would rather relisten to Death Comes to Time than the third Doctor audios.
My wife Laura and I listened to The Paradise of Death on a road trip maybe twenty years ago, and it took this long for me to consider experiencing this story in any format. I don't know why I was in such a rush.
