So we are getting a mix of kelvinverse and TNG romulans in Picard??

took "punching bag" to mean gratuitous negativity, rather than criticism relevant to a topic at hand. The former gets quite tedious, especially as we each have our subjective views as to what a "bad product" is.

No one here said they didn’t deserve criticism.

Saying something deserves to be the “Punching bag” doesn’t sound like criticism, it sounds like hating it for the sake of hating it, not for any good reason.

Especially since ‘hate’ is subjective.
You two are spot on.
You mean Discovery didn't invent contradicting canon??
I know....I was as shocked as you were.

We're in TNG era. TNG style makes sense to continue forward with.

Ostensibly. Kelvin's alternate universe does allow for Nero to look different as well as negating what transpired in NEM to lots of possible degrees, so I'm not expecting stern continuity to NEM either. Which is also the best or lots of possible reasons... Where they go from here is more important.

Thank the 90s fans for wanting an explanation to TOS vs 80s movie/TNG Klingon look too. More money to pay for latex and sticky note glue instead of boot polish... Where they go from here is more important. Silly 25% claim or otherwise, though I'd hope for the claim because Enterprise uniforms in DSC were laughably bad with that disjointed if not schizoid-looking collar...

Romulans with ridges are part Reman.

And it'd be fun to pop more than one. Oh, that's Pringles, not Ruffles... :D

How do bad shows not deserve criticism? What kind of koombaya bullshit is this? It's not elementary school art class where everyone's project is "good." Professionals who get paid handsomely and who, in turn, spend massive amounts of money to make TV and films can and should do better.

There have been plenty of bad Trek shows that absolutely deserve to have their feet held to the fire for being the shoddy products that they were.

Sorry, bad product deserves all the criticism it gets.

The effects, for the smallscreen are anything but shoddy. I sat through enough of the show to tell that nobody needed to look up producer count* to tell those scripts were uneven at best, utterly careless at worst, and condescending at times in between. Shows ostensibly about hope in the future should be better than some scenes without compellingly good reason...

* with two hands and feet and more if co- and exec- and consulting- and other splinter producer roles are included

What, no one mentioned this? Want some ST09 style romulans? Shave heads and add tattoos, everybody wins :)

Yeah, the first two or three years of TNG were pretty ridiculous, on screen and behind the scenes.

As an evolutionary feature all adaptions would serve a purpose, even if the purpose was in the species evolutionary past. Perhaps the ridges developed to keep the rain out of their eyes?

All Vulcanoids have an auxiliary forehead that is activated in times of stress. Romulans are very stressed.

If we see Remans, will anybody care whether they look like the ones from NEM? Or is there more wiggle room since we didn't see a ton of them to begin with?

I wish they would tone down their nosferatunesh a bit, they look like season one Discovery Klingons! Whilst it was not stated on screen, I understand that the idea was that they're mutated Romulans. In theory I like that background, but it would work better if they wouldn't so radically different from Romulans.
