So.. W13 and Eureka returning in July, anyone going to watch?

So we have Season 2 of Warehouse 13 and Season 4 of Eureka starting in next month. Is anyone excited? Will you be watching?

For myself, I will watch them but they are not 'must see tv' for me by any means.

I'm looking forward to WAREHOUSE 13. Alas, I kind of missed the boat on EUREKA . . . .

When they return to the UK, certainly. I think that they are fun shows though neither are my "must not miss" shows:)

Eureka was only really good in its first season. It started going downhill thereafter, once showrunner/developer Andrew Cosby left. And I'm lukewarm about Warehouse 13. I'll watch them, but I can't say I'm excited about their return.

I absolutely love Eureka. So I'm very much looking forward to that! I haven't watched any Warehouse 13 so I'll probably skip that. Someday I may get caught up on it as the concept looks pretty interesting.

Eureka is fun and silly. If you're expecting serious sci-fi or plausible technologies, it's not the show for you. But if you want a fun twist on your basic sci-fi stories, and enjoy the concept of an entire town full of geniuses, it's right up your alley.

^I accept that Eureka is a work of fantasy. But in its first season, it was a much better-written work of fantasy with better characterization. It was smart comedy/fantasy, now it's dumber comedy/fantasy.

Also the product placements have gotten out of hand. The Degree antiperspirant sponsorship was the worst. That just didn't make any sense. In the first couple of seasons, they had a product placement deal with Cisco Systems and it was just some reasonably unobtrusive glimpses of the Cisco logo on the characters' videophones. But working in antiperspirant product placements was painfully awkward and intrusive, with the most offensive one being a whole episode that was basically written as an extended version of Degree's rather stupid ad campaign, with the climax of the episode revolving around the commercials' fanciful conceit that Degree could protect you from vast amounts of heat. (Which is idiotic because antiperspirants do nothing of the kind. They just gum up the pores so the sweat doesn't come out. Which would actually reduce your protection from heat, since sweat cools you off.)

I think the sponsor in the most recent season was a car company, so that wasn't quite as obnoxious. Still, Eureka's approach to product placement is egregious and deeply annoying, and it's almost enough to turn me off of the show altogether.

(I have seen other shows do it just as obnoxiously, though. I remember a couple of Dead Zone episodes incorporating dialogue exchanges that were outright commercials for a certain credit card and its RFID technology, PayPass or whatever it's called. On the other hand, White Collar handles its automobile product placement pretty deftly, incorporating the SUV's features into the action in a way that almost feels natural, like a bit where the driver was so distracted by the conversation that he needed the car's collision alarm to warn him to stop.)

Hmm. I just read in SFX that both Tia Carrere (RELIC HUNTER) and Lindsey Wagner (!) will be guest-starring on WAREHOUSE 13 this season.

More reasons to check it out.

I love both of these shows, so I will be definitely watching. :bolian:

You must have missed the scene where Jo told the Sheriff about her awesome new car. :D

Sure, that was annoying, but it wasn't as bad as the deodorant stuff. I mean, people use cars in real life, they talk about their cars, so it's not completely distracting or ridiculous to have a scene in an episode where a character is showing off a new car and talking about the features they enjoy. But the ways they had to stretch to justify incorporating a fershlugginer deodorant into the lives, work, and conversations of a town of superscientists were egregiously awkward, stupid, and irritating.

I thought it was done tongue-firmly-in-cheek. :p

and, yeah, I'll be watching. Especially for the big cross-over between the 2.

Warehouse 13 no, Eureka yes. Although I haven't enjoyed Eureka quite as much since they killed Stark, too bad he's never coming back. Oh well, I still love the rest of the characters and I've been waiting for the new season for a long time. Looking forward to it!

Yeah, getting rid of Stark was a mistake.

True, but the car scene was the more awkward for me because it just seemed like one of those scenes where Ozzie Nelson would turn to the audience and start talking about Puffed Rice or whatever it was. :rommie:

I'm not saying I wouldn't be happier if there were no product placement at all. But it's increasingly unavoidable these days, and the Season of Deodorant Ads was the worst I've ever seen.
