So the big reveal of Brightest Day is...

When I saw the picture in the linked article, I thought "since when did Iceman and the ghosts of the Thundercats join the Fantastic Four?"

I am way out of touch, lol.

My teenage son suggested (rather strongly) that we drop this title weeks ago...and now I wish I'd listened to him. Bah. We could have been reading another GL title instead. Or one of the Deadpool ones...

I had no idea who Alec Holland was. I had to wiki it. Kinda ruins that huge epic cliffhanger

I know who Swamp Thing is, and I've read a couple of the Alan Moore issues, but I have idea what place he holds in DC continuity. So this final twist of Brightest Day kinda has me shrugging my shoulders.

so does this mean swamp thing will be getting a new relaunch . he would make a perfect white ring bearer . he already is the deffender of the earth even though it is
in louisana swamp aera . how will he handle greater responsiblty with the hole planet.

the thing is...Alec and Swamp Thing are two different entities. i have to assume Johns will retcon that or something.

^ Well currently he's a Black Lantern so I guess we'll have to wait and see how this is resolved and I'm sure there will be some retconning involved.

Yes. When news broke most have speculated on what would be the reintroduction point. Brightest Day #23 is the answer.

It wasn't always that way, Moore changed that and Dido/Johns are it seems, based on BD#23, that it's being retconned back.

Funny thing is that the character Garbage Man was created apparently a few years ago under edict because Swamp Thing was tied down at Vertigo. Garbage Man is just seeing the light of day so I wonder what, if anything, they'll do with him. Since he was going to be a pseudo Swamp Thing replacement.
As we(Loprestri, GM creator) were discussing the possibilities, Dan mentioned that one of the things that the DCU needed was a monster book. Now that "Swamp Thing" is a Vertigo imprint, it's off limits to the regular DC continuity, so I jumped at the chance to create a monster property.

Anyway so the speculation on the DCU boards is that Garbage Man will quitely fade away most likely after the Weird Worlds mini anthology finishes up in 2 issues. On the Marvel boards the few of us that care wonder if Marvel will launch a Man-Thing mini or regular as point/counterpoint to DC.

As a fan of the monster/horror side of comics I'll be picking up Swamp Thing.

I dropped it after issues zero and one. Something told me it wasn't going to be for me and that I'd learn whatever big developments that came out of it either online or my local comics shop.
We could have been reading another GL title instead.
That's exactly what I did.
