3D is a faintly annoying gimmick that makes sense for only a few types of movies.And I own no Blu Rays of any sort whatsoever. Not sure that I ever will. I rarely want to watch anything more than once, so buying makes no sense for me. Just a bunch of junk that takes up space.

I have no plans to see it in 3-D. I only saw it once in theaters the first time around and I already have it on DVD.
It wasn't that great the first time around. 3-D won't make the movie any better.

Same here. I already own all six movies, and the original cuts of the OT on DVD, so I will never see them in the theater again, gimmick or not.
And I will never, ever, convert to Blue Ray.

People have wondered whether viewing of TPM improves in some way after reading Darth Plagueis. Well, it does. And not because you can find a certain character lurking somewhere in the background; you can't ( don't waste time looking for him, you maniacs ). It's because the film itself, while flawed by almost universal consensus, is simply not as bad as it has been made out to be.

Given the various releases since, they are most likely bargain bin items now.

Actually they are now really overpriced because those dvds were limited editions and now out of print. Just look at Amazon. Prices are ridiculously expensive.
Glad I already bought my versions when they first were released.
I've converted to Blu Ray, mainly because the conversion is far cheaper than the one from VHS to DVD (Blu Ray systems can play DVDs, usually upgrade the video quality for them, too). Very few movies will I double dip Blu Ray for DVDs I already own.

Oh yeah, you're right, their scarcity WOULD make them more valuable. I hadn't considered that.
But for what it's worth, just last week, I saw a copy of A NEW HOPE in the discount barrel at the very same Walmart I bought all three from back when they were new.
