So long, George

"I only bought the Blu Ray so I could have ESB in HD?" :p
Well, strictly speaking... Thats... Not exactly The ESB you're looking for, not really.

It's odd. He's all about not altering other people's films, but at the same time he goes and alters other people's films.

I actually prefer the SE of ESB over the original. Nearly all the changes were improvements.

Seeing the snow monster. Cool.
New Emperor hologram. Fine.
New shots of Cloud City. Beautiful.

Hope you have a good one.

I just hope the fine print is all in place, because I shiver at the thought of a Star Wars reboot!

(In the nicest way possible)ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FRIGIN MIND?! You think he'd EVER let anyone do any kind a reboot?! I think not!!!!

Let's just hope that he puts it into writing before he dies...Or, yes, we're going to be SCREWED!!!

No doubt, the reboot would be directed by JJ Abrams...
He already DESTROYED Star Trek.....Star Wars would be nothing to him.....

We're getting a PT reboot called The Clone Wars, and it's working out very well. Of course Star Trek was never in such dire need of rebooting as all that and consequently was not rebooted, just added to, with a new alternate reality/timeline.

The question of whether Lucas can actually prohibit Star Wars from being rebooted after his death is interesting...could a stipulation like that be legally enforced? Wouldn't whoever takes over after his death have the freedom to do as they please? Free speech and all that...

And even so, there's the issue of what constitutes a reboot. They could do a JJ Abrams and just invent a whole new reality, and it's not technically a reboot at all.

They should make a reboot of STXI in which Spock's time travel takes him back to 1994, and then he crash lands on George Lucas and thus prevents him from ruining Star Wars in the first place.

Why not back to 1976? Better to stop him totally. Just to be sure.

This. nuBSG is a reboot. Batman Begins is a reboot. Upcoming Amazing Spider-Man is obviously a reboot. With STXI the franchise wasn't rebooted, it just branched out.

And he's right, everyone here would go see it. Probably multiple times.
"I was first line in and I hated it, I was sooooo let down and disappointed. And then, just to be sure how much I hated it and why, I went and saw it 3 more times the following weekend" :rommie:

"And I only bought the Blu Ray to be ironic and make fun of it."

I can tell you this. I'm not the basher of the sort you are talking about, but considering my criticisms, I have NOT bought the Blu Rays. And as long as it is just the SEs on Blu Ray, I never will.

The other DVDs with the original cuts included are fine for me.

I don't need Vader going "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" in Hi Def.

No, no, NO!

Ever hear the adage "the woman is always right"?

Katie Lucas said the "haters" would all buy the Blu-ray. Thus no other outcome is even possible!

Just like when she said Han never shot first! She's right! It never happened! Because she said so!

Hell hath no fury, and all that.

Psssst, there are no BluRays of Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, since the movies have never been made

Why not back to 1976?

Think about it.

Oh, I did. I understand why you are suggesting 1994. Nerdrage isn't hard to figure out.

I was suggesting 1976 to stop him then. Perhaps it would be better for Star Wars to never have been created. For it to soar so high and then to crash so hard... perhaps it IS better to have never loved.

Did I miss a memo or something, when did being a fan get to mean bitching and whining about how much your "Favorite" franchise sucks and has been ruined?

Sure, you can't expect everyone to like everything, but seems like being a "fan" means bitching something and declaring how much better you can do it over the people that made it.

SEs refers to the Special Editions.

You're not making any sense. We call that "throwing out the baby with the bathwater" or "cutting off your nose to spite your face". What you're saying amounts to: why not get rid of all of it? Why not throw out the good along with the bad? In fact, why have any perception of quality whatsoever?

Pretty extreme "scorched earth" response to criticism, isn't it?

Exactly my point. Being a Star Wars fan used to be a fun thing. Now it's about taking sides. Now it's about wishing Lucas stopped living in 1994.

Um. That's my point. You're talking something happening to Lucas in 1994 to stop him from making the Special Editions. A pretty extreme response, don't you think?

"Fan" has sort of reverted to "fanatic" and often means "so deeply emotionally invested in the thing as to be irrationally demanding of it."

This.
