So I started watching "Babylon 5" for the first time.

I just finished the EP."severed dreams" HOLY $%#@!!!!!

Yeah, I was waiting for you to get to that one. ;)

My Jaw was on the floor for at least 45 minutes, I think I got cottonmouth, and I know I take back everything I said about the cheap effects....:techman: I know alot of people compare this show to DS9, and I would say this was B5's "way of the warrior". This show...damn man...this show.

This was a sweet looking ship

Like we have people over to watch the superbowl, Clark would have had "friends" over to watch the capture of Babylon 5... But when the battle turned, and a win seemed less than certain, Morgan would have drawn his slug thrower and opened up into the crowd removing all witnesses to his moment of weakness.

"Severed Dreams" is one of the highlights of the show.

"Why not? Only one human captain has ever survived battle with the Minbari fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else."

I like that ten seconds in the middle of Severed Dreams where the command crew is arguing about their course of action and Sheridan is quietly freaking the fuck out wondering if he has the strength to do what needs to be done.

I loved Corwin's reaction to the shitstorm. So, that's why Ivanova was asking me those questions about folks acting against Earthdome.

In retrospect do you think Robert Foxworth regrets his decision to get paid probably triple to take over Earth in Deep Space Nine?

I think many actors regret turning down or giving up certain roles in TV shows or movie franchises because they don't believe in them.

Patrick Stewart had little hope for Next Generation and expected to go home before the first season concluded yet it rocketed him into the first ranks of Hollywood (and i doubt it would have happened without Trek gviing him the name recognition).

For some actors it's also just a job which they don't think about much after the cameras stopped filming for the day, Avery Brooks struck me as such a guy who sometimes appeared a bit aloof in interviews about his time on Star Trek but that doesn't mean he's disrespectful or outright hated this job. He's just not that zealous as hardcore Trek fans can be and certainly doesn't spend as much time or thought on it when he's not on the job.

Yes...I am at the point where marshal law has been declared on earth. Random Thought, I think the season 3 opening theme is amazing

The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed.

Gives me chills. Sadly, I was a sporadic viewer for seasons 1 and 2 (partly because I didn't realize how awesome the show was and partly because they kept moving it around the schedule). Once I heard the Season 3 opening, I was hooked. Luckily, they re-ran episodes on almost as crazy a schedule as they aired new episodes and I was able to catch up on most of what I missed. Later, the DVDs filled in the rest.

I can still remember the week before when Clark declared martial law and disolved the Senate and one of my friends that was watching it at the time says "Who the hell does he think he is?" That show was so true to life, we were pissed when that happened. "How can he just throw the Earth Alliance Constitution out the window?" It's really something.

I'm happy you're enjoying it, as anyone would that was willing to actually watch and pay attention would. It's my favorite show, ever, and I think it would be for a lot more people if they just looked.

Question: Will they explain why Londo is still on B5? Centari has a treaty with Earth now, and B5 is against Earth. I can't help but wonder why he is still there, for the most part, the shows been pretty airtight and consistent within itself. This seems like a glaring ommision, and great material to be explained in an ep.

So I rewatched "Severed Dreams" mainly to appreciate the space eye candy, and also because it was just so tense...and I noticed something...a nitpick, at the Start of the Battle, On Earth's side, you had two destroyers (the Agrippa, and the Roanoke) and two unnamed frigate ships. on B5's side there were the Destroyers Alexander and Churchill. During the Battle, The Alexander spends most of it moving into position to rake the the Agrippa. The Churchill is Badley damaged and rams into the Roanoke, destroying them both, you can see the Roanoke split in two. but After the Roanoke is destroyed, Sheridan orders B5 to direct all fire at the Roanoke, destroying it AGAIN. was this just an effects error, was there a third destroyer I didn't see? Was Sheridan meaning the Agrippa? and he just said the wrong name? like I said a Nitpick. EDIT: Nevermind managed to get a zoom and the made out enough of the name to tell it was Agrippa. I guess Boxlietner (sp) just must have read the line back wrong. a very understandible mistake.

This isn't really a spoiler since it didn't show up on screen but there was a scene in one of the scripts that was cut for time that would have shown Londo recognizing B5's independence. I think it may be touched on in dialog later on. Still, there's really no other facility like B5 that all of the various ambassadors would be able to move to.

It may have been an editing error (been a while since I saw it). This is one of the episodes where they literally had somebody waiting to take the finished episode to the facility that uploaded it to the stations. That said, there are a few errors with ship names sprinkled in episodes when a ship file was re-used, thinking that the name would be illegible but they used a close-up instead.

I think it was a simple lack of proper coordination between the script and the effects guys.

As for the episode, when Hiroshi goes Kamikaze is the only time I can actually remember leaping up from my chair while watching a TV show and cheering. I yelled "Ram it down their throats, baby!!" My wife took it exceptionally well, and didn't have me committed.

Indeed.

It's even more ironic that JMS once claimed B5 was one of Bush's favourite shows.

Maybe we can blame JMS for the Nightw.....err, I mean Dept. of Homeland security and all the fear that now permeates the Western world.

Thanks Joe! You gave the ignorant f***er a damned blueprint!!!

B5 set itself up as an Independant State, as such the Centauri could regonise it as such and station an Ambassador. It's treaty with Earth wouldn't impact on that. And it's not like Clark would want to force the issue, his Power base was on Earth. We know that Proxima III and Orion VII succeeded from the Earth Alliance as well prior to B5 doing it, so other colonies might have done as well. Mars refuesed to accept the Martial law order and would likely have succeed as well if wasn't under Military subjucation.

Plus, the reason Londo was sent away in the first place is they wanted him, away. They on Centauri Prime haven't changed their opinion of him yet, so where would he be recalled to? The Centauri actually sent funds to help B5 to be built, I think they have in interest in it, it certainly very good for galactic commerce and the Centauri understand business.
