So, anyone excited about Mirror Universe episodes?

Mirror Universe is a Star Trek trope, not essential to the series. Note that TNG and Voyager didn’t do them.

Discovery doing a mirror Universe episode is out of place this early in the series.

However, VOY and TNG played with the trope in Yesterday's Enterprise and Living Witness.

In all honesty, I'm always down for a mirror universe..any mirror universe. The trope in ANY scifi series is fun for me, just as recently as loving Agents of Hydra in AoS. But now that Discovery is in full motion, I do kind of feel like it would derail the story as of yet, but we'll see I guess. I suppose it all boils down to how they do it (if they even do).

Well, I liked the TOS one, the ENT ones, and STC's. The DS9 mirror episodes just bored the hell out of me (and I really like Ds9). This show lists heavily to DS9, so I not sure.

I was thinking given how ambiguous the moral compass on Discovery can be at times, what if the ISS Discovery is pretty much exactly the same as the USS Discovery. I mean, inverted grey is just grey.

The Mirror Universe Lorca will be bald, drink tea, and spend hours deliberating with his Counselor (Mirror Landry) before undertaking any action. ;)

The Prime Lorca will kill him while he is still asking Mirror Landry about the feelings his opponent is experiencing. ;)

I'm excited about seeing the Mirror Universe again. I don't think there's been a single MU episode that I haven't really enjoyed. If they keep it fresh and have a fun new idea, I'm all for it.

I'm sick of the Mirror Universe. It's played out. Once made for a fantastic episode. Twice made for nostalgia. But now we're at the point of diminishing returns with the universe.

I agree for the most part, but two novels do hit it out of the park. Dark Mirror by Diane Duane and Sorrows of Empire by David Mack.

I'm interested to see the Mirror Universe again. My only issue is that I don't think the Discovery characters have been established well enough, from what I've seen, read, and listened to, to really enjoy seeing their mirror counterparts. I would like to see a Mirror Universe episode (s) but perhaps late in season 1 or in a later season.

Personally, I wish they'd leave the mirror episode for season 2. Give us what little time we have in the first season (just 15 eps, I believe) to get to know, and be comfortable with, the people in our universe, before they show us the skewed perspective Over There.

If this show weren't relying just about entirely on familiarity for its appeal it wouldn't even be on Netflix.
And in 1987 if TNG hadn't been billed as the continuation of 'Star Trek' it wouldn't have gotten past Season One - and seriously, go rewatch TNG Season 1 and look at all the TOS related shuttle and ship models in the background of various shots.

So rather than stating the obvious what IS your point here?

Every Star Trek spin off has gotten the viewership it has at the start because its had 'Star Trek' in it's name.

In a Mirror Darkly Part 1 probably has one of my favourite cold openings of Star Trek.
That was an amazing opening. It took me a minute to realize how they cross-cut with James Cromwell and the new footage. I was too busy going "WTF?!"

I think 'Yesterday's Enterprise' is basically the Mirror Universe done seriously.
And knowing this show, this one might be as well. So far it looks like these writers are avoiding cheesiness for the sake of it.

BTW: Wouldn´t you like to see creepy old empress Hoshi Sato, prolonging her life by chewing Denobulan glands?
