Smith's outfit and companion...

Twilight in a Doctor Who thread is like shit on a steak.

Sorry i must be the one of the few people that havent seen Twilight. And im guessing its that Vampire Movie or book or both. Really dont have a clue i just see tons of shirts and books an dvds at walmart.

I had my kick with Vampires with Forever Knight and Angel! And some part with Supernatural.

The Twilight series was initially a series of four books and one film adaptation of the first, with three more films to follow. It's a vampiric female submission fantasy.

Oh yes. Because jumping on the latest pop culture bandwagon, that's something Doctor Who would never do!

Did I say it never has? No, I did not. It's very obvious through the nearly 50 years of Who that it has followed a lot of trends. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Not only that, there is absolutely no evidence Who is going to follow in Twilight's path. I was only making a comment on the theorized comparisons being made.

Reading comprehension is awesome.

The moody lighting and albino looking Smith worried some people

'Albino' doesn't mean 'pale'. Smith has dark brown hair and eyes, about as far from albino as you can get.

Personally I loved the way they lit that shot, particularly the TARDIS. Gives it a really lifelike 'feel'.

Hats are passe'. :) Been a long time since I've seen ANY show in which the lead guy regularly wears a hat, save for military shows (and even then they usually find an excuse to lose the lids - I'm looking at you, Stargate franchise...). As long as leading characters have hair, the producers of their shows will want to show it off, or alternatively show off just HOW bald the guy really is.

Out of all the Doctors with hats, I think only McCoy made it a major trademark of his character, although Tom Baker and Davison wore their stuff from time to time. (Colin interestingly is the only classic series Doctor I don't recall wearing some hat at some point-even Pertwee briefly had one!). The only serial where McCoy rarely wears the hat was "Ghost Light", I think.

Hats, passé? RUBBISH!

As the proud owner of seven fedoras, I would love to see The Doctor take on another hat once again.

Let's have him wear a cap with ipod earbuds as his celery/cat pin

"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the drums............the constant drums of Franz Ferdinand that is "

Good lord, no wonder everyones moaning that he's too young for the part. Man dresses like a freakin' college student. :p

And since when has the Doctor ever worried about being fashionable? Give'em a hat!
