Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

^Oi! No serious discussion while we're talking about Smallville actresses in French maid outfits!

;)

That was to be expected but good post...as I have stated I'm expecting all of their casting news for season ten to be mostly finalized before Comic Con like it was last year. Remember how much speculation was going into comic con last year because it was rumored they'd done up a costume and were gonna do a two hour TV movie? They did of course but that turned out to be Absolute Justice. I wonder what the hype will be about next month and what new cast members will be joining the panel?

I'd much prefer seeing Tess or Chloe in a french made outfit...

Agreed.

But I'd like to see Lois in one too.

Hell, even Lana would look good.......

Oh thanks guys, now I'm gonna have trouble concentrating for the rest of the damn day!

It sounds s if you're not cognisant that we are not talking in the hypothetical at all. it Happened. It's online. Go look it up or rent the dvds. Lois in a little dress with stockings dusting stuff. Season eight episode one, the Odyssey.

On a completely different tac, as punishment for avoiding the glasses and superman suit, Welling should be squeezed into a frenchmaid suit too fro as many episodes as it takes until he submits to my will that he become Superman.

CSI Miami's Emily Proctor was Lana Lang once apon a time?

Gorgeous as she may be, a blonde Lana lang is just insanity compounded.

In that case, I'm gonna be wearing out my DVD's. I bought the latest season (and I'm pretty sure it was in fact eight) when they came out a year ago, but only watched them once, so all I really remember was Clark feeling guilty about Jimmy dying. I haven't seen season nine, and won't until that set comes out, so I'm behind a little.

Of course, all this does not change the fact that I wouldn't mind seeing all the Smallville girls running around in french maid outfits.:bolian:

The entire plot of season nine stems pretty much from Clark feeling guilty regarding the fake Jimmy Olsen's death. I still can't believe they copped out and told us that was his older brother, I would have hated to be Aaron Ashmore when I found that out.

That whole thing was awful...I wanted to quit the show after that...just for a moment...AA was a great Jimmy. IMHO of course.

I think one of the things they should have done for this season and they kind of did was play up the "Death of Clark Kent" angle. Clark essentially becoming Krypton Man for three or four episodes and not talking or interacting with anyone and going about his business. Very stoic and Jor-El like. Then maybe Ollie and Chloe confront him and realize he's been like this because of what happened with Jimmy and not being able to comfort Chloe as he should have been able to do as her best friend. Chloe not having anyone to turn to starts her relationship with Ollie who understands about loss. Perhaps this even enables him to seek out Zod and the Kandorians and ally with him. Chloe and Ollie along with Tess have to find a way to bring Clark out of his funk before he helps the Kryptonians take over the world. All part of his guilt trip. This of course would alter his relationship with Lois. Maybe Chloe uses the discovery of Lois's future vision as a way to finally bring Clark out of his funk and makes him realize what he's done and his love for Lois. The second half of the season would introduce Checkmate and the plot to stop Zod.

Love it or hate it, that had to have been one of the ballsiest things I've ever seen done on a TV show.

The epic retcon didn't bother me as much. Partly because I didn't care so much for this interpretation of Jimmy, but mostly because the retcon was that epic, I am still in awe of it.

I will grant you it was an epic retcon. It disturbs me though because right before the season finale I had watched the season seven DVD (I think it was seven) featurette with all the Jimmy's on it and Aaron was talking about how great it was portraying such a vastly different version of him from the others. Then boom he's killed off! LOL

And not only killed off, but not even the character he thought he was playing!

New Jimmy: "Miss Sullivan, there's this tradition we observe in my family dating back some years now, that anyone named Jimmy Olsen has to lose his cherry to someone called Chloe Sullivan. It's like a law or some thing."

Also one of the stupidest.

Yes AY it was and it may have been ballsy Broccoli but it didn't sit well with me and alot of other fans...maybe not fans here...but other fans not only of SMALLVILLE but of AA also.

I think some people were hoping Tom Welling's Clark Kent would get killed off and replaced with one that flies. :guffaw:

While I tend to agree in part with that assessment, I also have to agree with Admiral Young; it was simultaneously one of the most stupid things ever done as well.

I mean, if the folks at DC were concerned about the apparent age of the character, then why in the blue hell did they approve this version of Jimmy in the first place? And let him exist on the show for what, three seasons?

That to me, firmly cemented the idea that Smallville is indeed its own parallel universe, with it's own internal logic (or lack thereof).

Oh, I don't disagree on the fact that it was stupid idea.

DC is strange when it comes to their media projects. They can go a while letting the writers do what they want, but then, suddenly, tighten their grip on some aspects that they might have previously were cool with. That, or a new person for DC who makes those decisions came on.
