Wow that brings back memories for me...even though I didn't start watching Smallville on a regular basis until season two. The series sure has come along way.

I liked the way it was filmed back then. It had the 'Canadian tv show' look to it with the camera filters and the pine tree forests and the constant raining.

Now with Metropolis it all looks fake/unnatural.

Anyone else besides me start the show from the very beginning when it was still on the WB and "Angel" was in its 4th or 5th season?

Clark is actually the villain this season.

There's no other possible explination.

And everyone being able to fly but him is just so pathetic at this point.

Clark not flying is so lame at this point. Every other Kryptonian can fly instantly. He is a Kryptonian retard.

The in show explanation is that it's all in Clark's head that he can't fly...Jor-El essentially told him that and Kara theorized that when she was trying to train him. The no flights, no tights thing was good for the early part of the series when they were dealing with Clark in high school but he's established himself in Metropolis and built an identity for himself. He's basically got all of his powers he'll use as Superman, except flight. It's ridiculous that he hasn't been flying around. Maybe we'll see him actually frelling flight next season.

Its starting to look like Chloe is living on borrowed time, with her life's work destroyed. Good episode though, although I totally agree with the comments about Clark flying... it really does look like he's the Kryptionian version of that dumbass alien that locked himself in the cupboard in "Signs".

PS. I just finished watching the pilot for "Lois & Clark" for the first time in years. A little dorky in part, although the same can be said for any 17 year old show. It was weird however watching a Superman show with the title character able to fly, though, and in a cozzy to boot.

I have. From the very beginning. And Lois & Clark before that. And The New Adventures of Superboy before that. All when they first aired. I have even seen all the episodes of The Adventures of Superman, including the episode of I Love Lucy where George Reeves appeared in costume, but that was when it was in syndication. I am old, but not that old.

^ So far there hasn't been any indications otherwise, we'll see there. I don't think Annette is credited in "Salvation" same with her husband. Perhaps things will change during the summer.

Chloe has been on borrowed time for a long, long time. I'd say since the first time she died at the end of season six was it? I'm pretty sure she's died twice already like Buffy!!! Everyone has been in a pretty dark place this season character wise...as the producers have stated the season nine finale will be Clark's 'redemption' hour. His time to finally shine whatever that means. Everything that has happened in this season will culminate in "Salvation" and then I'll take the summer off and re-evaluate myself and determine if I'm coming back or not in September.

Myself or NX or someone else will most likely have a summer hiatus thread up like we've had in the previous two years.

wont Clark only have show real growth when its the shows final season, and unless the CW axe it, that wont ever happen.

DC Comics should really be ashamed of themselves, letting this version of Clark Kent being how a generation views the character of Clark Kent & by association Superman.

^ Really? I know a lot of people who started watching Smallville and knew nothing about the comics and started reading the comics without having that feeling...a couple of them are friends of mine too. I don't think it's been officially announced yet...perhaps it will at comic con but season ten looks to be the final season.

Nope. Season Three finale, when Lionel blew up the FBI safe house she and her dad were spirited off to for witness protection (the last ever appearance of her father). Where there was a funeral, a head stone, and it was what drew Lois to the show in season 4. During the time when the Jor-El AI wiped Clark's persona and left "Kal-El" in his place and he flew.

And she technically died in season 2 as well. She had been poisoned and was being chased in her car by the guy who did it. Clark stopped him, then got to Chloe just after her heart stopped. He ripped open her blouse (a screenshot that has been posted many times) and injected her Pulp Fiction style (just like Tess in this ep) with the antidote.

This show teaches one great lesson: Nice guys are idiots.

Yeah, they are. This is Clark's mess. When he had a chance to finally do something, he decided to stick with Operation Hug It Out with Zod and Ollie stupidly went along. Not to mention Clark wanting a Kryptonian family. You already got a family, dumb ass, not to mention you have a Kryptonian cousin.

Also, SV writers and producers, now would be a good time for Clark to fly since every damn Kryptonian can! Seriously, if Zod had a cabin boy, he'd be able to fly to!

That being said, this was a pretty awesome episode. It once again proved that when Lois does not appear, SV can still be a damn good show. It's amazing how the stupidity of that character drags down the show. So does Clark's too for that matter. I was surprised to see Justin Hartley had story credit on this one. He did a very good job I thought.

Like I said, Zod's on the warpath and the siege of Checkmate, such as we saw, was pretty awesome. Though I'd be disappointed to see Checkmate gone. Good stuff on the Chloe front and she should have forced Tess's hand at the end.

What happened to the non-powered Kryptonians? Did Zod kill them too?

Ma Kent is the Red Queen. Knew it but still pretty awesome! I don't think things look good for Chloe, I agree.

Darth Pipes aren't you devious tonight with your comments but since Baseball has pre empted its best you read my comments tomorrow OK.

My two cents with two episodes to go I vote for Sen M.Kent for Red Queen of Checkmate.
I can't wait for next weeks episode eventhough it's US premier of IRON MAN 2 at the Bengies drive in movie theater of which I'm going next Saturday night. now I loved the catfight between Chloe and Tess but Ollie verses Zod that is recipe for GA to be serious hurt by Zod, and Kal-El/Clark is wavering between defending Earth against Zod and trying to keep this peace between Kryptonians as well as humans.

Well till next week same Smallville Channel Same Smallville Time in my neck of the woods

I am what I am, Buck. ;)

Yeah, I'm planning to see Iron Man 2 myself but I'm going to catch a late show next Friday. Friday Night Lights finally makes its NBC debut next Friday at eight as well. Now, it would be a disgrace for me to watch Smallville over something as great as FNL but I kind of feel like I have to watch the final two episodes of SV since I'm so close to the finale. I'll be able to watch FNL the next day online. Damn, I really need to get a DVR.

It makes even less sense to watch SV because despite the awesome set-up tonight, I know the finale will disappoint. Speaking of which, why don't the Kandorians just attack now?

BTW, if this whole ruling the world, "Kneel before Zod" bit don't work out, Zod might have helping teens with unplanned pregnancies. Just suggesting. ;)

They really should have dveloped Faroa's character more. It would have made that scene between her and Zod work even more. I didn't even know who she was until then.

I guess all of Clark's work with the Kandorians happened off-screen, the same place where Lois Lane is a great reporter.

If Smallville stared Chloe, Tess, and Oliver, along with Justice League members, that would be one awesome show.

I hated this storyline but do you know who would be the ultimate weapon to use against Zod and the Kryptonians? Lana. They couldn't even get near her.

DP I agree with you on SV,and look forward to your comments on IM2 after we both see it OK.
BTW I met your Avitar in 2003 at lecture he was giving in a local Jewish temple a very nice man IMO.
Too bad he has hung up the ears, but I understand he has other hobbies to keep him occupied like photography etc.
