"My twin brother will avenge me!"
"Wait, let me get this straight, you're an Olsen twin?"

I've been absent for most of this season but should be back sporadically from now on since we're on hiatus until Jan 15. First of all as one who was extremely suspect about the plans for season eight (those who were on the summer thread will know my thoughts) I've been extremely impressed with the first half of the season so far, impressive, MOST IMPRESSIVE. The new showrunners so far have managed to pull off their "bold, new, ambitious" story arc yet and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the second half unfolds.

As for Bride...I voted Super, this has to be my favourite of the season so far. I like how there is a tag for "Chloevage" in this thread LOL, but seriously Allison was freaking smoking hot in that lingere and in her wedding dress! Doomsday looked magnificant, a cross between his comic book look and a little like Megatron's robot mode from TF! Lana runining the big Lois and Clark moment pissed me off, but I wonder who she is working for? Jimmy getting his chest ripped open was unexpected...and the revelation at the end of the bald man with the wires in his brain...oooh boy as one Sam Beckett would say. I guess this has been stated before but since I've not bothered to look at the eleven other pages of the thread, my theory is that is indeed Lex, Brainiac found his body at the crumbled Fortress and has been using it to house his conscienceness which has also been downloaded into Chloe and the scene at the end with Chloe's eyes flashing and the showing of the body was Brainiac coming back online. I really want to see how the Legion saves Chloe...and on Smallville Wiki's article for "Legion" they have Alexz Johnson playing Saturn Girl (the relevance is that Laura Vandervoort played her older sister on the show Instant Star)! Can't wait for Legion.

I just had a thought about the guy at the end:

Maybe it's Cinjun Tate? He's been waiting eight years for someone to saaave him.

See, that's what happens when you walk out on the most beautiful woman in the world; you get plastic tubes coming out of your head.

SUPER. Here's my review...

- It was a good relationship episode, one of Smallville's best.

- Lois & Clark are getting somewhere. Nice fakeout by the way with Clark reading the vows and Lois thinking he was talking to her. I didn't have a chance to go "WHA...???!!!" or anything, but it was a nice touch none the less.

- Ollie and Lois are over and that came though very well. I didn't sense anything between them beyond a friend being there for a friend. That was nicely done.

- The exchange between Lana and Clark was good too. I'm especially proud of the kind of person (or shall I say character) Lana has become. I think it was the comic book Lana that went on to become a jet-setting fashion designer and it looks like Smallville has topped that by having her become some sort of jet-setting mercenary. What a far cry from the popular schoolgirl from Small-Town High. Early in the show's run, I was wondering what would become of her and if she'd go that route or somewhere similar and she has. Lana could be a Bond Girl. ...Or even a Saint-like character. You know, the Val Kilmer one. Yeah!

- Chloe and Jimmy actually got married. I wonder what will become of that. Can things stay this way? Can they keep Jimmy married to Chloe? I want to see where this goes.

- We got Doomsday on Smallville. Not bad. Not bad at all. That last scene with him carrying Chloe through the fortress wasn't very Doomsday-ish, but it was nicely shot. It was like a music video. Now what exactly was happening with Chloe as she opened her eyes?

- The end surprised me. I thought the camera would pan back to reveal Clark watching the wedding in a darkenned farm house, but I was surprised to see that it was Lex. I wonder if they'll get Rosenbaum back for an episode or two (I remember the answer being "no", but still). Or will they try to pull something more creative like they did here and give us a Lex of sorts without Rosenbum?

I haven't read a single post in this mega-thread thread yet. I'll get to that when I can.

Made it to page 4.

...I hope to god they don't go all "Beauty and the Beast" with him and Chloe.
Looks like they did.

"Hi. I'm Lois and these are my breasts."
I noticed too. Implants.

Maybe we should rename the show 'Cloverville'.
Or 'Chloefield'.

bad Chinese food davis?
:rommie:

Its funny how they turned the barn into a fancy looking reception hall in a hotel.
I thought... The Barn?!? Then I figured that maybe it was a budget thing. Plus, from an in-show perspective, it was pretty creative. I know Chloe thought of it.

I really like the darker hair on Lois this season.

Indeed. It *really* works for her.

I mean... wow.

You know... I barely notice.

Shinzon is coming?
:rommie:

Lana shipper crap!

Lana in the Smallville hospital. They kept her room reserved!

Video emo-pop song ending! YES!!

Durance's acting was quite good in this one.

Doomsday is actually monsterous, not just a human.

A rare SUPER rating from me.

Made it to the end of the thread. VICTORY! So this is the last episode until January? I had no idea. I thought we'd get a Thanksgiving break then another one or two episodes. I can wait. I need a break anyway.

I'm so glad they are pushing the Lois/Clark 'ship. I never really cared about the whole canon aspect of it in the first place. For one, it's pretty obvious SV is an else else-world. But really, isn't comic book "canon" rather malleable by default? It's in the nature of the medium.
There is no Superman canon to violate. Changes have always been made to the mythos, but Smallville tends to take more liberties and mashes things up a little more than some might be comfortable with. I think that's why this issue keeps coming up. I do continue to think about how this Clark can become Superman though. I thought about it again as Lois and Clark were staring at eachother.

Somehow it just seemed right for this series to have a wedding in the barn/loft. At first I was like "they're getting married in the barn?" but it quickly started to seem appropriate in this series anyway.
Yeah, pretty much as I mentioned as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a Lex after plastic surgery.
I'm still trying to decide if I like that idea or not.

Jeff Johns is behind the scenes?

That whole head tube thingy is being used by brainiac, as he disregarded the last 20 years of continuity to write a pretty stunning little story, which most any one can do if they cherry pick and disreguard any contiuity they feel like...

Brainiac V from the Legion maybe?

I read somewhere a few weeks ago, I think it might have been Smallville Wiki that Michael was going to do a voice over involving a phone call he makes to Tess. I think also that in one of his departure statements Mike said that he would be open to making a guest appearance but he wouldn't be returning in a full time or reoccurring role. I'm not sure what to make of the body with the wires attached to his head, it just seems like a body that Brainiac is using in the absence of James Marsters.

we don't have to see more than te back of his head, and he may never have to talk.

It's very Vader in Empire, no?

Then again it could all be a control system to drive his Tess Mercer voodoo doll poppet he's got a timeshare for one her soul with?

My personal thoughts are that body is just another host for Brainiac...I guess we will find out the answer in the new year.

Brainiac just took over the fortress.

He's represented.

Unless of course we have a war of the Brainiacs?

(Brainiac II vs. Brainiac III in the pages of L.E.G.I.O.N. was awesome.)

I have a really bad ear.

Tone deaf.

Who did that voice over in the last seconds of the episode where the fortress got infected?

You know who isn't represented any more?

Jor-El.

I'd rather see Lionel than Lex come back.

Did you wonder why the camera focussed on Lionel and Martha in Chloe's memory scrapbook nook?

Foreshadowing?
