Smallville this season is reminding me of Manny Coto's run on the last season of Enterprise. A last ditch attempt to keep some older fans by throwing in a geeky easter egg or three every week. Looking back, it was fun and occasionally funny, but as a series it lacked any direction or forward movement for the characters, if the show had started out that way everyone would have been WTF? What's the point of this show? Just a different reference every week to TOS?
Smallville this year has been a lot the same. Lot's of fan friendly references, still no soul. It's not a bad thing, but there's no way this could have sustained the series for this long. It's like the year and a half of the Justice League cartoon show.
Anyway, Instinct was just soft core porn. My son was sitting with me going "EEEWWW!!! They're licking each other!!" Maxima was true to the comics, but those comics issues were soft core fan wank material as it was.
I liked Lois, I liked how they're bringing the attraction between them along, it's making sense, not out of the blue in one episode, but fast enough to resemble being hot for someone in real life. Makes sense she'd Clark differently once he's in a suit with even a little start on a career, that's human nature.
I agree, the Talon has to go. Especially if Chloe is going to throw a fit when Tess breaks into her office, Chloe is living upstairs in a building that Luthorcorp owns, with a business (closed but still owned) that Tess could walk into any time she feels like it.
My bet on the crystal is Chloe/Brianac. Because they have to get Brainiac out of Chloe, they have to restore the fortress, they have to get Kara out of the Zone. They need Zor El for too much stuff that they have to solve this season, so the crystal has to be somewhere they can find it while working out an existing mystery. Since Lex isn't going to reappear this season out of no where with a mastermind plan and a Kryptonian crystal to power it, then it has to be Chloe.
