Sliders - Who watched it?

That was like the seventh episode.

It's amazing, as I was going through it again discovering that the most seminal and striking episodes which in my mind underpinned my entire definition of Sliders was just the first nine episodes, ie the entire first season.

Lucky what came next was so utterly forgettable that it didn't detract fromt he goodness of the beginning.

The first two (short) seasons were great. It crashed and burned in season three, with only a couple of great episodes and the rest not only being terrible movie rip-offs, but actually having production/editting/script errors. Sci-Fi rescued it a little in the first half of season four, but the same guy who trashed season three ruined the second half of season four. Season five was pretty rubbish and a shadow of the early seasons.

I also watched until a few episodes after they got rid of Arturo; one of the most stupid ones was a dream Rembrant had about a previous slide with Arturo in it after he'd left and he talked about it to Wade so we got to see it; why not just show that episode before getting rid of Arturo??? I mean wtf?

You know that almost every thing is produced out of order.

Davies must have split on a coin.

It would explain why they fucked over his charatcer so intensely?

He was fired, he did not quit. There is some long story of what happened, but the short version is Davies made fun of some guy at Fox at a Christmas party, that guy later became President of Fox and had Davies fired in the worst way possible. To be honest if I were Davies i would have refused to film the episodes, fuck the contract, have them come sue me. I think he just wanted the whole mess the show was becoming to get behind him.

I liked the show but started loosing intrest when the Cro-Mags became somewhat regulars. and when it left Fox I could no longer watch it, because I did not the new network it went to up here.

Oh yeah I always thought Wades tits were awesome!!

It's presumably a mis-speak of "blithering idiot"...

I watched the first season and liked it, but never got much further... I heard bad things about the later ones and stayed away.

So, Roth had never seen the show?

Probably thought "Blistering" was a reference to the herpes he'd contracted from his doe eyed mistress and convinced the missus she'd extracted from a dirty toilet seat.

This is where you want to go to read a continued or re-imagined Sliders. A couple are excellent, including the (World) where they imagine Tracy Torme never left the production and continued the story from where he was (booted) left. I've spent several pleasant hours reading some of this stuff.

Otherworlds. The last word in Sliders fanfic. Check it out.

Slidersweb even has a fanfic of Sam Beckett leaping to displace Jerry O'Connell and finding himself in the middle of the production turmoil of Sliders. You can read it here.

I just posted an interview on Earth Prime with Tracy Torme where he talks reboots, what he's up to now, and where he planned to take the show if he had control of the fourth season - check it out if you get a chance:

Tracy's interview

Tracy also wrote up a treatment for his lost episode "Heat of the Moment" for the site; if you're interested in what that would have been like, you can read it here:

"Heat of the Moment" synopsis

Spread the word if you like, because the more awareness the show generates, the greater the chances for reboot/relaunch... :)

Wow, cool interview. I'd like to see Tracy get a new project going-he seems to know what he's doing.
