I like them, not to the point of disparaging the TNG/VOYAGER era though. Into Darkness is up there with First Contact as my two favorite trek movies.

I loved the first film and thought that the second one was pretty good despite being quite flawed.

Overall, I think Abrams and his team have done a great job of reinventing Star Trek and making it relevant for the first time in decades.

All I know is that TMP in 1979 (as a "newbie") and JJ's 2009 film both gave me an utterly enjoyable, immersive experience, such as very few movies have ever done. Loved, loved, loved! Both movies also brought lots of new fannish blood and enthusiasm to TOS, fandom and the Trek universe.

STiD took a few bizarre turns, but the concept of putting new twists onto old TOS stories had already been laid out in the Orci-approved IDW comics, so using Khan to tell a twisted new tale was already telegraphed and not a surprise (despite the "Cumberbatch is not playing Khan" statements). I still had a great time in the cinema, but it was disappointing to see a few friends have an overall negative reaction to something I was enjoying.

As for fans hating on the Bad Robot films, it's deja vu to me. A percentage of "the fans" have hated on every new incarnation of Trek since TAS! Usually different fans each time, but no new Trek has ever pleased everyone, nor can it. I'm thrilled that TMP, once so derided by many, is now quite well remembered and respected.
